Hi So I installed my FitCamX camera using the "fused" wiring harness which made it so much easier to slide the front camera into position. But I thought the reason for the fused harness was so that the camera would record while the truck was parked at various locations. I then thought - that's not a good idea for the battery if the truck sits overnight or for a few days.
Come to find out that the camera recording times out after 65 seconds when the truck shuts off and only the impact sensor is active at this point.
So I ran two hot wires to the camera and switched the one for "ignition". Now when the truck is parked - the camera is recording for whatever that is worth. And I really want to see the guy that's after my Cats or Tailgate !!
At the same time - having the switch to turn on the system - I can much easier view the footage via the app without the truck turned on or running.
I like it much better for now and with an indicator light next to the switch - I am more reminded to turn it off at night. Left it on for about 14 hours with no battery problems at all.
Of course I also have to turn it on manually when I need it. So for now there are positives and negatives - but I'm really used to hitting the switch now.
Just wanted to share with others and maybe it will work with other model systems. Regards Scott
