you’ll see those other bottles again, who knows with the pappy. Crack it open and enjoy. I pretty much exclusively drink pappy with my dad, he’s not a bourbon nut like me but it makes the times more memorable.

And...I have a Rip, (2) 12s, and a 15 Pappy. The Rip is the best of the lot. I'd drink it.

Interesting read. As I was reading it I thought, cool I'll have to keep an eye open for it. That is until I got to this part at the end of the article, "The five-pack comes in a custom wooden display case, and the whole thing retails for $1,000. But with only a limited quantity rolling out to select retailers, bars and restaurants in October, you can expect to pay a whole lot more on the secondary market." They must think it's still pharmaceutical product...:frusty:

My favorite whiskeys always end up overpriced, but for a decent, available, sub $100 bottle I like Eagle Rare, Monkey Shoulder, or Woodford.

Just passed through Carbondale CO and hit up Marble Distilling. Their products are top notch, but the rye is exceptional.

So I’ll tell my Old Carter story (again?) to continue to punish myself. Was hunting during a work trip in New Orleans and came across a very cool store, fairly empty, staffed with some folks that knew their bourbon. I was chatting with one of the clerks, asking about this and that bottle and what the business is like in that town. So he says hang on, heads in the back and comes out with an Old Carter. I had no idea what it was, but he was trying to tell me what a great bottle it was. Then I asked for the price - $150. I was like, nope, not paying that much for a bottle I’ve never heard of. So, thanked him and headed out.

First and last time I’ve seen one in a store. I should’ve bought three. Every time I hear about someone loving it, I curse myself.

lol it’s good .. we’ve all passed on bottles.. I told my buddies wife to pass on Stagg (real Stagg) for 500.00 for his Christmas party. I haven’t seen it anywhere near that price anymore. I got it for 180.00. Imo whiskey has a diminishing return on taste. I got a baby on the way . I should slow down the purchasing here on out.

I got this one cause I had a couple 7-year store pics that were dynamite. This one I’m not sure of the blend but the aftertaste ends kinda leaves on a rye taste. I’m not the biggest fan of Rye. I woulda rather paid 190 otd on other bottles.

Congrats! Yeah save up your dollars for the college fund. You can slum it on shelfers and still have plenty of good stuff to pick from.
