Went for another short trip to see a tree that shouldn't be


Was greeted by a local with every right to be

Luckily I was going pretty slow or this guy might have been a pancake. Mr snake was kind enough to let us know we were almost to our destination

Little pockets of changing leaves mostly a tree here or a bush there.

Unfortunately not open to visitors but I was more interested in the tree behind it anyway

We also found an abundance of mushrooms again

Now that I think about it it did seem a bit chilly out


Another local and possibly current resident of the guage station

this little fella didn't seem to have the time of day for a couple of tourists like ourselves and with light fading quickly we hurried along our separate ways.


We left the house hoping to catch a good sunset but the sky was completely void of clouds so we chose a more eastern view

Before we know it it'll be time to decorate trees with stars on top but I think i prefer the moon.

My passenger side Durobump disappeared

That explains the recent thunking noise

Got an OEM bumpstop back on for now.

Looks like my UCA's are coming into contact with the coil buckets (even with both bump stops).

 

I haven't been impressed, I'm not sure if I got a bad batch or what. I'm not sure if I'll buy another set or just hold off for something better.

 

You should write to him and ask if he'd replace it first.

I guess it's a reasonable excuse to reinforce the coil buckets. It's been in the back of my mind for a while now

 

What arms do you have that this can happen? I've smacked my upper arms all the way in to the inner fender but never had one clip the bucket.

 

All Pro. I think it's the hardware that hits. I'll have to jack it up and see.

 

There's a couple dents on the inner fenders as well from some particularly hard hits on the previous set of LCA's and LBJ's.

Maybe a good idea to put the front sway bar back on with extended links to tighten up the front
I'll need new brackets.

 

Also I just took a quick look and it's the spindle gussets hitting the coil buckets

I guess that's what I get for paying someone else to weld them on

 

Took the front tires off and removed some metal.

Added a quick coat of paint so I can see if it rubbs again.

 

Went for a drive in the back country. Standing on Blawn Mountain looking towards Lamedorf peak and the Wah Wah mountains.


Trip didn't go exactly as planned but then again it usually doesn't when exploring a new place.

This little spike and a half looks a bit funny but I'm sure he'll grow out of that soon enough.


We sat under some junipers in the shade and watched the elk feed for a while before they wised up and headed for the trees.



By the time they wondered off my hands were getting cold so I was happy to head back to the truck and our patiently waiting pups.

We were in the final stretch of dirt roads and the conversation had turned towards dinner but that was going to have to wait a little longer because someone had parked a train at the intersection in the middle of nowhere (Lund UT) . After waiting for maybe 20 minutes I pulled up the map and found an alternate route, proceeded to the next crossing and arrived just before a second train reached the intersection. The car following us had to wait for the train and for some reason that made it feel even better like I had timed it perfectly.

We had tacos for dinner.

 

I had to do the same thing on my spindle gussets. pretty common thins to have to do. otherwise it'll contact like you've experienced.

Finally got around to putting the front sway bar back under the truck with extended end links, new hardware, and bushings.



The drivability doesn't feel nearly as dramatic putting it back on verses taking it off. I think my wife noticed more of a difference than I have.

I'm also hearing less noise from the front end popping now so that's a bonus.

 

What size telephoto do you have?

 

I don't even know, just the lens that came on the camera.

I got this camera as a gift a couple years back and the only thing I've bought for it is batterys.

I know next to nothing about photography but point and shoot is second nature, usually followed by a loud bang but I haven't missed that part much.

I've wondered about getting a lense to reach out a little further but wouldn't know where to start

Saw several small bucks that day and even a couple more elk but the elk were in a hurry through thick brush.

fall colors and a decent amount of wildlife made the trip well worth it

I think that Dusky Grouse was my favorite thing to see that day and I've been itching to put one on my dinner plate. We had a good year for the bird populations around here and I hope to see more.
