Just bought my first tacoma a 2023 and my big complaint so far has been the crappy throttle response. the engine seems to have the power but its sluggish. I tried to find a manual as those are way better but no luck. Anyway my question is: is the pedal commander worth it to get this truck to feel like a truck. By the way Im coming off a Ram 2500 diesel.

Welcome, your post is in the 4th gen sub, I'd go to the 3rd gen and search about the topic. Most will say don't get a pedal commander and get a tune. I just got the OTT 2 weeks ago (I have a manual though) and the throttle response is immensely improved.

Let us know if you have a V6 or 4 cyl. Also, have you tried using the ECT button?

Owned Sprint Booster for two years - changed the truck - they are worth it but let me give you the cheat notes - just fast fwd to getting an OTT tune. It's the full monty on how to change your driver experience. Throttle response PLUS shift points, torque boost, and helpful w/ cruise control.

Give it 3,000 miles before you do anything. Break it in nice. I have zero issues with the performance of my 2021.
Well it doesn't really tow well uphill but other than that I love it.

I would argue anybody who gives you unqualified advice to buy one generation over another is biased and/or full of B.S.; you bought the last of the third gen Tacomas, and whether this generation ends up being a better vehicle than the 2024s and later will be a discussion for years to come, and if the Gen2 vs. Gen3 discussions are any indication, the question may never be decided.

As you have a new vehicle which has not yet fully settled in, you A) need to give the vehicle time to age, B) might want to consider engaging ECT PWR mode and see if that changes the fell of the transmission's shifting more to your liking, and finally C) have your truck tuned.

ECT is a whole new experience. Don't know what it does to the mileage but makes around town more fun.
