High-mileage 1st gen Tacomas

I can almost guarantee you the clear coat is about gone - mine started off looking like a white 'residue', then chicken feet patterns began, and by then the paint started to turn white. It looked horrible, especially with dark trucks like ours. I had the roof and both sides repainted for $800 locally. Not Maaco!!!

 

Thank you and thanks for the link. I painted the wheels myself over 4 years ago and they have held up well. They are 16" 4 runner wheels.

I'm pretty sure it's the clear. Time spent in the sun makes it worse. $800 is a deal for that. Really sharp truck you have.

 

This was 4 years ago. I gave it to my son with 210000 and he is still driving it to this day. I replaced the original clutch at 108000 and it was still ok.

Thanks, it's my pride and joy Spending time detailing it is very cathartic - similar to landscaping. The subtle changes make it stand out.

 

My 04 with a 3.4 has 320k runs good hits limiter frequently

 

most recent addition (1995 v6 4x4) is sitting at a cool 481k. my 01 at 297k.
the 98 has 94k and the 2002 has 198k

she a whole like me well past the picture taking point in life but here you go. She probably has 100K miles off road in 4WD on her. It just keeps going and going unbelievable really

Cool. I bought my 2000 Tacoma with 289k over 5-1/2 years ago. Truck just turned 360k and has been fantastic.

 

My latest addition, 2002 Double Cab TRD OR 4x4 purchased 3 days ago with 327,880 miles. I have a low mileage 1st Gen 96 with 75k and now a high mileage 1st Gen!

 

Update 2024: I sold those other wheels, went back to stock wheels and upsized to 16s:

 

2 with over 300K, one I bought used needed a clutch at 214K. Other than that normal service stuff.
