They are offering an upgrade option for the updated larger tundra version so there could be something. the upgrade has the new blower but retains much of the existing setup.

I've tried three different impacts on a motor I'm stripping down and that didn't do it so I ordered a tool like this for $25 cad (2 usd). I could fab up a tool to hold the flywheel end but the tool was cheap enough.

I've removed the crank pulley bolt on my truck a couple times using the manual transmission starter bump trick and that worked great.

If that is the case then Gen 2 Tacoma isn't far behind and we should not be by all accounts because this thread has been responsible for a lot of reference and innovation both within our own and on other forums running blowers. So much so that vendors follow it and check up on us pretty regularly apparently.

We should be at the front of the list on Magnuson's "to modernize" list given all the business we have generated for them and all other vendors building supporting stuff for their equipment over the years.

You would think so. 1st Gen. Did start the movement but we def have done a lot and it shows in their new designs. They price the tundra upgrade at $4200 I believe so almost half new cost.

I don’t know how soon we would be getting any updates to the 4.0 blower so I would not hold my breath. I heard the only reason they did that was because the molds for the 3.4 were wore out. I mean don’t get me wrong I would love an update on the blower but I think with the lower price of the 3.4 blower and how many vehicles it fit on to they probably made a lot more of those than 4.0s

I used the starter as well. Rachet strapped a breaker bar to the frame and gave the e ignition 2 small cranks. Busted loose. Pulled the efi fuse so no fuel pressure.

yah def possible. they did just remake the tundra into a larger unit. But I would not expect it anytime soon since they just released the older 4runner with the single vvti 4.0 S/C kit like it was something net new. I guess they never had a kit but same blower as ours.

If they do it would def have an uptick of people buying net new. Def curious how many they actually sold. I had a pretty low serial count when I got my S/C in 2019.

Lot of options, but I want to be able to torque it down after without have to remove the radiator to get an impact in.

yah def cant use the impact with it in. I used the stubby Milwaukee which may actually fit without removing its super compact torques up to 250 so a few ugga uggas and good to go

I hit that crank bolt with a stubby and a pneumatic impact when the electric wasn't cutting it. I just sat on that bolt and boom boom boom boom boom boom boom until it let loose. Enough impact motion on that bolt and it'll let of eventually. I always sit on bolts and hold that trigger if they aren't letting off. It's kind of frustrating, kind of fun, and kind of funny all in one.

My m18 mid torque Milwaukee took my crank bolt off in a heart beat, I let it hammer in for a few seconds when putting it back in. It also polished off my stripped front diff drain bolt yesterday night

I ordered one, because I have a new hatred for that bolt. I ended wacked it with a hammer a few times before and used a large breaker bar, still stripped right out lol. I can't be too mad it's probably my own fault for not changing that fluid out sooner but in the back of my mind I am thinking the previous hands that were on it probably over torqued the living sht out of it like all the transfercase and rear diff plugs

Since my new engine has been sitting up for at least a year, im hopefull the injectors are still ok, but if not, whats a direct replacement for the TRD s/c injectors? Not looking to make any other fuel upgrades so I dont need anything other than what comes with the S/C kit from the factory.

I think your stock injectors should be fine. I don’t have a part number for a direct replacement but I am sure someone in here has it.

Also if you change your mind and want a set of FIC 650’s I have a spare set that hasn’t been used before I would be willing to let go of. That goes for anyone on here actually. The box is just collecting dust. I’ve been running mine for a year for years now with no issues

Every used engine ive ever swapped that has been sitting always has a dead injector, I always swap stock injectors just for that reason. There is a place in town that flow tests injectors, i think i should take them in and see what they say before they sit too long.

Definitely worth getting them cleaned and checked.
