Hello all. Need some help from 2015 Tacoma owners. My windshield shattered and I made a claim to my insurance. Their preferred vendor is Safelite, and I followed their guidance. Please do not bash me for following their recommendation...

Long story short, I have had three windshields installed in the last 2 weeks and I am pretty sure the windshield molding is not the right one. For sure the second one was not the one as it had the rain gutter style which I complained. I am reaching out to see if someone can post some pictures of their window shield molding and windshield so I can show the local safelite manager of what he needs to purchase. Your help is appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hector

Pic from my 2015 just after it was purchased. The stock windshield molding is flat and rectangular on top and sides.

I use safelite & gotten 3 different windshield due to rocks. :annoyed: They offer lifetime warranty. If you replace it enough, your molding will diminish in size every time they cut out the old windshield. Tell them you want new molding or take it a dealership to get replaced correctly with new molding. Dealership windshields & labor are fucking expensive. Ask them to air test the windshield, if air can get through they need to replace it ASAP because so can water. All they have to do is put the air hose inside the truck and see if air comes out on the perimeter of the windshield. Ask for this service every time

From my 2015 windshield. I'm sure this is stock but I did buy it used in 2017.

Most likely NOT stock due to the rain channels that are meant to fill the gap when new glass is manually installed (also keeps out the water and salt to delay corriosion if the installer used a blade to cut out the old one and left a bunch of exposed steel). Those are very common aftermarket gaskets.

    Well then..... Maybe not.

Here's the label. I don't see "Toyota", but I'm not sure what stock should look like.

So, checked the side windows and they clearly say Toyota. So this isn't stock. :anonymous:

    ETA:

A little research and my glass is indeed Chinese manufacture.

Your windshield is FuYao but DOT 459 is their Morraine Ohio plant. So it's USA made but Chinese owned.

I have the same windshield. It's not terrible for aftermarket but I wish I had OEM Pilkington again like OhDannyBoy.

Stock (99.999%) OEM Bed Floor Mat, Front Bed Rail Cargo Net and hooks, Auto-Dim mirror w/Compass and outside Temperature display, TRD Pro Grille, Uni-Filter air pump modification, WeatherTech floor liners f/r. (winter) OEM All-Weather floor mats (summer).
I have a similar windshield (Fuyao)on my 2014. (see pics) I searched the web when I got the truck and found info confirming they are a Chinese company with manufacturing plants in the U.S. as well. It also mentioned that the company is an OEM supplier to several automakers including Toyota. All of the other glass on the truck has the Toyota label. It's hard to see in the pic because of the rain gutter, but the rubber trim making up gutter does extend all the way to the pillar. Same thing across the top edge of the windshield. (That is dirt up there at the roof edge: not rust. No sign of any rust elsewhere around the glass)

So after some discussions with Safelight and progressive, they agreed to replace with OEM. I get a call today from Safelight manager and he informs me that Toyota discontinued the original 2015 molding and what they offer now is with the rain channel upgrade. I haven't started to call local Toyota dealers, but if anyone has replaced the windshield and molding with OEM and might have the part numbers, please send them my way. Thanks again
