Ordered my Faraday bags from Amazon last night. Dang, it's getting ridiculous these days.

This is one of the reasons I chose the SR5 Trim - no fob.

Is it the same turning off the fob signal vs getting the pouch

I think it's getting stupid out there when it comes to theft all theft. I can't believe how much it's happening all over.

^^^This^^^ I was gonna buy a faraday pouch (way back when they were a hell of a lot cheaper too) and then I read about this method. I do it pretty much every time I’m gonna be away from my truck for more that 2 minutes. It’s just become habit now. It costs nothing and unless my hands are full, it’s not inconvenient at all.
No vehicles are 100% theft proof so I’m just hoping that by disabling my key fob, using a simple hidden kill switch, and parking in a way to make it difficult for a quick-and-quiet tow truck snatch-and-grab will make thieves move on to someone else’s truck......

    Yes.

A well hidden kill switch for the starter relay on an auto trans or kill the injection fuse on an MT version is your best defense.
If they really want it that bad they can still tow it.

When my truck was stolen they didn’t clone the FOB. Not needed.

1 break the plastic surrounding the driver’s side key lock.

2 short the electric key lock contacts. This makes the truck think it was unlocked so the alarm is disarmed.

3 access odbi and reprogram the truck to their fob.

    4 gone

I’ll reiterate what I was told by the cops, insurance and the dealership who sees a fair amount of recovered stolen vehicles: use a club and use it on the backside of the steering wheel.

The whole idea is to make it less appealing. There’s allot of vehicles out there and they will choose an easier one. No it’s not a guarantee but I heard the same recommendation from a bunch of people who deal with stolen vehicles.

I want to thank all of the people that have Tacomas that don’t believe the club is effective because your truck is making mine less of a target.

Those are even easier to steal
Its the same. I just forget sometimes and just easier to drop it in the pouch.

I do like the box style better tbh

They can have it. I got insurance. Then I get a new taco.
As someone said above it’s just a truck. Mess with my family or dogs and you’ll see my teeth get bared

Explain how an SR5 without a FOB is easier to steal. It still has a chipped key/engine immobilizer but no keyfob to access the data from or reprogram for a new fob. Seems to me it would be at least as hard or harder than those with an OEM fob to steal.[/QUOTE]
