that being said, I plan to order a kit this winter and get stuff made up. If others are interested, I wonder if we can get a big ass kit and split it up

My setup is mostly all good but I'm down to either attend or host something. Might be intelligent to do it in the fall though.

    Brandons wiring needs it.

Yeah. I might end up buying a large assortment and make a separate harness to get it cleaner. Get the wires routed inside or wherever they need to go and whatnot.

On a random note, anyone end up installing extended length wheel studs for spacers? If so, what did you get exactly?

I ended up throwing the 1.25” spacers that I got from John, and it only engages about 50% of the nuts it comes with. Not a fan, but it has worked so far.

If that happens, I'd be down. I'm pretty competent when it comes to electrical and would be happy to help and maybe pick up a few tricks and tips myself. I've quite a few things on all my trucks over the years. No fires yet, but i do carry a fire extinguisher :anonymous:

I don't have anything bigger than 4 pins, but I tell you what - if someone buys one of those assortment kits I linked in the last mod day PM, I'll do a video on how DT/DTP/DTM work, pin size/compatibility, and various looming techniques.

Ah okay. Trail Gear are the cheapest I've ran in the past and those were still good

The 3.3 is an NA V6 that is probably one of the best engines ever made. The complaints it's had: Overheating when towing over 8k (the limit is 8.2, people who are overloading that are complaining....). Otherwise, yee haw. It has all the power I'd want or need, and it's cheaper than the 2.7. It has zero turbos instead of two. Not that the 2.7 isn't relatively reliable, but the 3.3 has that much less moving parts. It's the one used by every fleet out there, because it's not reliable as anything, it's more reliable than anything else out there. Not trying to brown-nose the Ford badge with this, but that's an amazing engine, and the extra cab space in an F150 vs a Tacoma would be nice.

I don't want to be towing what the 3.5 can tow, I don't need the grunt of the 3.5/5.0, essentially just a bit more cab space than the tacoma - and the 3.3 gets me there

Though to be fair, the base of the base 3.3 V6 w/ 4x4 F150 is 45k (super cab, not the single cab, that MIGHT be cheaper, to be fair). TRD Pro Tacoma is about the same. At least on the "build your own" options on both websites. An SR5 long bed is 40 (full cab, same as above, the extended cab tacoma might be a bit cheaper, but I need that cab length for sleeping in :D)

Dunno. Still 130k ish off from even considering pitching this thing, 230k ish before I pitch it (gone at 300k, might consider at 200k). I'm super spartan with what I want, relatively. A sunroof would be nice now that I have the cab sleeping setup, but otherwise a gas and brake pedal is all I need. All the other stuff is aftermarket anyway (roof racks/kayak racks, bed bars, bike mounts, etc etc).

Anybody at work want an aluminum knock off skid plate? Guy at work didn't mount it as it requires removing the runner braces or whatever they are called and he didn't want to do that. $180 is what he's asking.

Obviously, this being a Toyota forum, lots of people here have great experiences with their Tacomas, but there's an ass for every seat. Personally, I've had better luck with Ford than I have with Toyota (I've owned and maintained 6 Ferds in my lifetime and 2 for my wife). My old man had the 7.3 (diesel) when it was current and had lots of issues with it, he'll never own another Ford. A lot of it just comes down to personal experience.

I agree, I think COVID production and quality issues are plaguing Ford now. I wouldn't buy a new truck now unless I really needed to, they've had some significant quality issues in the past 2 years, especially with the feature-rich trucks.
I mean, mine's still in the box it came in just tucked under my seat. I guess you could say i nailed that mod? It's been a very problem free mounting solution so far :notsure:

True, seems to be common with all of us. We can do wiring in the snow.

Nope. Nothing good happens in the snow.... too cold. Too wet. Like today.....

I thought I had pictures but I didn't find any. I went through Michigan in Oct 2021. Right off the highway was fields, FULL of trucks. I'm talking thousands. Fords, GMs, all of them. Waiting for chips/finishing touches. Those trucks were sitting for months and months on DIRT fields.

Mice, vines, bugs, you name it. MY 21 and 22 from the big 3 are a big NO from me after seeing that.

^^^ After my last trip in October I am doing an oil change, making sure my filters are good, then the hood stays closed until April :)

The local dodge dealerships park their trucks on dirt, must all come "pre-rusted"
