Looks like any other modern DOHC setup. If my dumbass can figure it out in my garage, shouldn't be too painful for a mechanic that's got all the right tools and has been trained on how to repair those engines. That's not to say the DOHC motors look terrifyingly complicated when you open them up, they absolutely do, but as long as you're methodical it's not bad.

Front chain is still way easier than the dumb audi rear chains or the early ford front and back chains. I'd much rather work on the Ecoboost than either of those.

Seems most ecoboost need worked on regularly though. Cam phasers, oil pump failures, and carbon buildup seem all too common in them. That said, the audi 4.2 timing chain seems like a nightmare but I bet it's not so bad since the work is down outside the car.

The part I like least about the Ecoboost is the damn chain drive water pump, cause when it leaks (and they all do) it dumps the fucking coolant into the oil. Cam phasers suck but are doable, expensive tho. High power coyote builds are just locking the things out since Ford can't figure out how to make their design not suck.

Cam phasers are something I can relate to. I think the set for me would be $2500 for parts alone. My understanding is the 1.0L ecoboost use a wet belt oil pump, the belt deteriorates, plugs the pickup tube and starves the engine of oil. Fun stuff!

They use 2 wet belts haha. They say the belt doesn't deteriorate if you use their approved oil for it... the lawsuits determine that was a lie. Wet timing and wet oil pump belts aren't wise. Toyota, Nissan, and Kia/Hyundai got the cam phaser design right. Honda sorta did but people forget they have it because they also have VTEC which is variable valve lift so high power guys usually lock out the vvt and leave VTEC. BMW in a rare stroke of reliability managed to nail out vvt pretty well lately, just took 22 years, but they also started 10 years before everyone else with it too.

I don't think so. I think the cutoff was for t-shirts in the swag pack. Walk ins registration is available at the park.
