I must be F'ing something up, because I cannot get my center console reinstalled completely. I removed it (no problems) to add the AJT cup holder. I went to put it back in and ran into a million problems.

Major Problem 1: The tabs that red clips sit on are garbage. In the picture below, you will see that I have added a little super glue to give them some structure, but they have completely cratered. This picture is from the end that connects to the actual center console. As you can see, the tabs with red circles have cratered. The ones with blue circles have also almost broken off.

Problem 2: Every time I get what I think is everything in the right spot and locked in, the piece won't line up here. Not sure what the deal is.

I've tried putting it back from front to back and back to front, but neither seems to work. Yes, I've tried searching. I would welcome any help, as I'm about to break this F'ing thing.

Does the ones circled supposed to have retaining clips on them…on the last pic I see 2 red ones on the top.. the long ones in blue look like guide pins…maybe somebody that knows will chime in… I’ve never had mine out

Is it something to do with the cup holder you put in?.. or is that clip bent over and not going into the hole?

In my mind, it has to do with the bent clips. When I try to push them in, they just smush.

You’re putting the red clips onto the tabs and then trying to install right? If the clips are already in the holes, then you try to press the console into place, it’s not gonna wanna go in. At least that’s what I’ve noticed with those red clips.

Red clips go on the piece that’s off, then try to shove it all in. That’s the way I do it.

Hey. Definitely putting red clips on the piece first and then putting the piece on. The only reason they are off is because the stayed in the holes during the last attempt at install.

Have you gone through the cupholder threads? I haven’t done the install but I seem to recall several people having an issue where some kind of cross member was interfering with the larger cup holder. If it was touching the back of the cupholders, could it be preventing the center console piece from going back far enough to seat properly?

No. Thank you. I've been searching for "console" and never even thought to search "cup holder". I'll give it a shot.

No sweat! This post is kinda long, but they talk about the cross bar interference on page 16 toward the bottom.
It seems like the issue is with the AJT model, while the Z Precision fits better. I’m like 60% sure I saw a post about someone modifying or moving the cross bar to make the AJT work. I’ll try and find the thread
Edit: That one has the most info on the AJT despite being about the ZP. People mention instructions saying to move a crossmember to allow clearance, but it doesn’t seem to apply to every truck/install. Lots of comments here and on Reddit about the AJT leaving a gap when they finally get the piece back on though.
Sorry I can’t be more help. I hope you’re able to get it squared away!

Did you loosen this screw and pull the cross bar towards the back of the truck to give the cup holder more space?

No, but I just saw a couple of people say that. The AJT install video is kinda shit. I've used them for other Toyota's in the past and it's been great. A little disappointed.

This is a pretty good install video for the Z Precision cup holders, which the AJT is a copy of: https://youtu.be/qxdZdo__4l8?si=-QCwjzNs07LcKhvJ

Couldn't wait. Removed the screw. Everything sits right, except right by the passenger side seat belt. Pretty sure it has to do with the fact that I tried to force it in several times without removing that screw. Will have to live with it for now. Thanks for all the help folks.

this exact scenario happened to me also. I can deal with the passenger side gap and I’ll probably eventually forget about it but it’s too bad ajt didn’t mention anything about this.
