A few days ago I was taking the exit off the highway and the road was sharper than anticipated and had to make a hard right turn to not run off the road, but in doing so the tacoma automatically engaged emergency brakes and the steering wheel locked up. It ended up doing a donut and was on the other side of the road. Had red messages on the dash about brake and transmission pressure if i recall correctly, then it said to turn off engine and start back up. After doing so, all the messages were gone and i could turn the wheel and put it into reverse and start driving again.

thankfully there was no harm and i cannot see any apparent damage, but i do notice now that the steering feels very loose and the brake is very loose. when i put the tacoma in reverse it will automatically roll quite fast so i have to keep my foot on the brake the whole time. everytime i switch from park > drive/reverse, you can hear it clunk. I have a very small and slight putter if you drive slow enough to hear it. Also when i start up now it doesnt immediately start, but sounds like a toy car for 1-2 seconds then the engine cranks up.

Should i get it looked at or did I just break in everything really fast? It is brand new, not even 500 miles on it yet. Just concerned since it feels totally different now, I was enjoying the stiffness and responsiveness that it had before the emergency situation.

    What exactly happened ?

Did you pop over a curb or just do a “donut”?!

I’m assuming if it was a turn you couldn’t have possibly stayed in the lane.

didnt pop over a curb, the exit started out as a long drawn out curve, but then immediately turns right. I guess the locals are used to it, took me by surprise

Remove your steering wheel. It’s not really needed.
