Anyone running anything fancy for a fuel filler. I just revised mine from a cut OEM taco to an OEM tundra filler since it mounted nicer in the bed.

    IMG_3371.jpg

can see the 4” hole where the old filler entered

If springs and shocks n all that stay the same, and you take weight off the front of the truck, the front will get higher. If the front gets higher in relation to the back, the center of gravity shifts rearward. Ain't rocket science or even anywhere close to trophy truck building

I'm not claiming drilling holes in random body and interior parts is gonna take significant weight off the truck but it adds up and theres a decent amount of excess in spots if you pay close attention. For example on my truck i switched to a LiFePO battery that weighs 15lbs, so i drilled a bunch of holes in the factory battery stand and some stuff around it because it doesn't need to be as strong anymore. Someone with a battery relocate could remove it completely. Won't make a significant difference doing just that, ounces maybe, but it adds up

And yea @snowsk8air2 is a great fabricator. I've learned a ton from his posting here. His truck also handles great. But it's worth a mention his truck is also cut up a lot already and has had weight moved around a lot. It makes sense for him to use adding ballast as an option to balance his truck. It doesn't make as much sense to make the same suggestion to the guy i originally quoted as the first option he should resort to when it's notable just from the pic in his signature that he has options to move or remove weight

You need weight behind the rear axle - not less in front of it for the most advantage to shock tuning. IDK man. Idk how adding some temporary weight or useful weight like an additional spare for trucks meant to go far in the southwest or recovery gear like a jack is a bad idea. Maybe you were referring to some other posts, but you said
Much later after I said I had batteries in the bed when all the guy asked was to get weight in the rear. Maybe my yearish long vacation away from all things TW had a lot of new people not knowing a battery destroys their core support on a lt rig, but

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/shes-ripping-apart-click-bait-i-knew-it-was-coming.685302/

Granted that was maybe before you hung out here, but it's one of the most mentioned topics of all time before I left. Now you're telling him to add weight to the rear yourself after telling him
and that somehow a couple items weighed 3/4 of a ton which is a "huuuuge" and not even a "lil" exaggeration (I couldn't even get 450lbs with 2 spares, 2 batteries, and an aluminum jack). Would I fill a spare with water? No, for the reasons I arleady stated. Would I put a sand bag in my truck? No, what's the use? Would I fill a wakeboard ballast bag with water and try strapping it to a spare in the bed if I didn't have enough time / money to get anything else? Why not? You now have extra water in the desert to wash your truck / self / put out fires with / put in a leaky radiator of someone that broke down and get to test how the dynamics of the truck may shift.

Cutting out a thin sheet metal cross member which will inevitably get replaced with thicker material, moving a battery and drilling some holes in the battery tray might not be enough to get the rear to perform the way he wanted. IDK maybe I need to go eat a sandwich...

i hear SCS is going to start adding bread grip to some rim setups. The recent one they are releasing will have it. Not sure if its different than the grip or bead deal they had already but had not noticed it before. my SCS def do not have it.

It looks like this may just now be a thing every major truck wheel brand goes for - would almost make me get rid of my beadlocks if they start winding up in the used markets

yah seem to be the goto thing now. next up will be a new set of wheels with less offset once the new axle arrives, and seeing this more had me second-guessing bead locks.

Yah the slide rack seems legit. Well see how I like the Tundra Rack. Already have that ready to go in.

Now that would be interesting if there is enough room in there.

Right now still on the fence but if anything I have the War Fab Sleeves that will be on with Stock Inners as I planned to run boots. Truck is not fully dedicated LT truck so well see if it demands solid tie rods or not. right now its one of those while I am in there should I add it or not.

I got a smoking deal on a full set of beadlocks and a non-beadlock but same style wheel spare. If I hadn't I woulnd't have bought real ones.

Why are many beadlocks only outer side of wheel (why does the outside see more loading, behavior cornering)?

who makes a wheel with a beadlock ring on each side? Is this fabrication territory?

Yes and more used by rock crawlers / military / drag racing than desert truck stuff.

    https://www.hutchinsoninc.com/rock-monster-internal-double-beadlock-system/beadlock-technology/

    https://3030autosport.com/drag-ops-series-mach-10-double-beadlock/

Some guys wheel really low pressure and keep a bead even with regular / oem wheels - depends on the rest of the setup and of course the driver

Spring rate increase should be considered for anything more than a palette of beer.

Don't laugh. Long story made short. We're heading to our pit at the Baja 1000, someone in our group knows a guy at a beer distributor in Tecate, we head over and he asks "how many pallets do you want?". We're in prerunners, 8 or 9 of them, but we load up a little less than a pallet of beer for between all the truck. Bianco Basura beer. I don't drink beer but I hear it was nasty! We ended up setting M80's to stacks of it just for show.
