It’s been 4 months since dear Pop passed, and just now able to drive his truck. ( RIP pop!) I grew up with Dad and riding in his truck, it was always a place to feel close to him. Just me and him, off to the store, off to the fishing hole, over to my grandads workshop.

I find myself beyond grateful to be keeping his 2010 Silver Tacoma with access cab, and a Leer camper shell. Plans abound for one day hitting the road and just, well, driving till I get tired. I always wanted a truck, and now that I have one, it feels like freedom.

Is that normal ? I’m a 64 yo woman who is lurking around forums trying to figure out how I’m going to build all kinds of fancy smancy bed-kitchen-storage cubicles and platforms inside that camper shell. I’m like a teenage boy, scouring sites looking for cool shifter knobs, floor mats, and creative things to make my Taco neater than anyone’s.

I’ve only driven it a few times. I’m taking my time, but already learning the feel, laughing at the little cars below me and secretly smirking with glee.

Anyway, cool to be here and discover this place I never knew existed. Pop would be proud.
    Hope to learn a lot!

SilverCrow, sorry for your loss. I too am a new Tacoma owner, and a new member, and I am 64! I told my wife it is unlike any other car/truck purchase, instead it feels like i bought a new hobby that comes with a truck. I concluded I need to stop searching for mods and instead I should determine what type of adventures make me the happiest ...and then I can decide which mods. I need to get out and try some things but initially I am thinking weekend adventures on fairly easy fire roads with my grandkids. I may change my mind, but that is part of the freedom this hobby/truck can bring.
