Is timing idler pulley #1 supposed to do this?

    That looks fine. That pulley is there to add tension to the belt. NOT to provide guidance to the belt. And as you have it; it is being held back by the pin so some float is O.K.

    ok. Thank you. That idler had a pretty good whine when I increased rpm’s, so I was focusing on it. Now I wonder if it’s the belt tensioner itself. Kickin myself for not putting the stethoscope to it when I had the chance, although maybe I would have heard it strongest through the idler tensioner anyway. I was thinking of reusing the tensioner(not idler tensioner. I keep confusing people, it’s a mad skill.) Think I’ll rethink that.
