2019TacomaReverseRake.jpgStrut.jpg Trailer.jpg Hello everyone. This is my first Tacoma and I'm proud to say it was selected also as my first truck ever. It is a 2019 TRD Off Road with around 86,000 miles and Falken Wildpeak 265/75/16. After just one day I already have questions that I hope are child's play for this forum.

First was the mileage. It is a manual transmission and bringing it home on the interstate I deliberately filled the tank to max maximum and doing the math came up with 18 mpg running at around 2500 rpm and 73-75 mph. Is this typical? Have to admit was disappointed.

Second, I have noticed that there is a distinct rake from front to rear and measuring from the center of the wheel to the fender edge I have 22.5" front and 21" rear. I do not see any lift or leveling components on the front strut or rear springs/shock. So what gives?

Other than these issues, I have loved driving it and look forward to getting out with our off road trailer.

That truck is lifted at least in the front but it was done by replacing the shocks/ coil springs so there is nothing that looks out of ordinary, but componets have been changed

I thought that may be what has occurred with the front end. Same brand of Bilstein shock as stock TRD but no idea of the springs. So I guess this is great, I get to lift up the rear for 1/2 price of total lift?

Is it a mistake to simply go with a block lift in the rear? The off road trailer I tow is about 2000 pounds so roughly 200 pound tongue weight.

Thanks to all!! I should have checked the forum even before I shopped for my Tacoma-especially as regards MPG!!

    Welcome to TW!

I have a '19 TRD Sport 6MT with same tire brand and size. I consistently average right at 20mpg with mixed driving, according to the dash. That changed from the 21-22mpg I got before with factory tires. I haven't adjusted for the difference in tire size, but that's probably a negligible difference.

I've noticed 75mph on the highway definitely isn't the sweet spot, even around my mostly flat coastal area. If I'm on the highway, it's best around 68-70mph. The best mileage I can get (about 23-24mpg) is on country roads doing about 55-60mph. Yours may improve once you learn what it likes. Don't beat yourself up too much over the fuel economy, a few mpgs only ends up being a few dollars at the pump.

Thanks again everyone. Since it appears the front has been lifted (22.5" versus stock 20") and the rear is at the stock 21", I have the choice of replacing the fronts back to stock struts or lifting the back. I have read numerous comments against blocks in the rear (especially towing?) so am considering new leaf spring stack. If I go with a leaf spring stack for heavy load, will that handle poorly without the trailer? Also, preferences for leaf stack for 2"-2.5" lift without sag with trailer...........

    Ya'll are awesome clarifying issues...............
