Which springs are you running up front? I'm more and more tempted with a leaf spring setup.

Have the fitting face outward instead of towards the engine bay, is that an option?

I think the early first gen Taco with 1" MC should provide you with the clearance you need. But it's a 4 bolt MC so you'll need a booster as well.

I'll measure and let you know

Not a 1t t100 but from an early first gen Taco. Not a clear picture but overall, look between 10.25" to 10.50"

If you want, I can get better measurement later. I have a 3rd gen 4r booster/mc too that I can somewhat compared it with

With the way I have the hoop mounted it would be very difficult or impossible to fit the reservoir through the hoop/fender.

I don’t mind getting a Tacoma/T100 booster, but I obviously want my brakes to feel good stopping 1 ton axles, I don’t think the Tacoma MC would be enough, but I think the 1ton T100 MC should be.

I'm no MC expert but do you honestly think Tacoma with dual diaphragm 1" (25.4mm) vs 1t t100 dual diaphragm 1.06" (26.99mm) make that much of a difference? Not to sound like a smartass but I'm trying to understand as well. I don't mind spending the extra cash for the 1t t100 if it make that much of a difference.

@v5ensx a 1-1/16” bore has ~13% more area than a 1” bore, it’s not a massive difference but still significant. I have to change out my master cylinder regardless so I’d like to figure out the best option for my build. I was just hoping others with more knowledge than me would help me figure that out before I buy parts that may not fit.

I think I found the solution, the 1996-1998 Supra Twin Turbo master cylinder. It has a 1-1/16" bore, it appears it'll mount to my booster with no mods, and the ports are toward the engine. The body looks like a mirror image carbon copy of the 4Runner MC but with a larger bore (it even looks like my reservoir can swap over). I think I'll order one and test fit.

I’d just run hydroboost it it were me rather than fucking around with trying to make Toyota stuff work with the huge SD brakes. Super easy to do too.

Because its for a MKIV, I bet its probably near $500 for the MC? The fitings are also on the opposite side as well.

I might try the 1ton early 90s t100 3vz when my MC go out.

I’m a newb when it comes to brake stuff, care to explain more or point me toward example builds? Can a hydro boost setup work with my limited space without interference with my coilover?

$220 for a new unit from Toyota. $90 for a new Raybestos unit from RockAuto. Cheaper than changing out the booster/MC to a T100 in my case. I’m deleting my ABS anyways so most of my lines need to be redone so having the ports towards the engine side of the MC is not an issue. If my booster were 4 bolts I’d go 1ton T100.

Pick your flavor of diesel pickup truck master to run, make adapters and let it fly. They are pretty simple setups to create and just grab high pressure from the PS pump. I’d 100% run HB over vacuum on SD axles

You’ll find more/better research on irate4x4 than here.

Anyone running a 3rd Gen. Mostly see 2nd and 1st gens. Looking to see what people are running for spring rates in them. I’ve got bucmac on ig who is pretty low on 42s said he is on 200/300. I know these trucks are heavy.

Ordered the 200/300 combo. Coilovers should be here in a week or so.

Started my 4Runner and drove it (albeit 20 ft) today for the first time since June last year. 16 months into my “3 month project” and I’m half way done.

No brakes, no front driveshaft, no diff/axles, nearly everything in the engine bay needs to be relocated, but at least it can move on its own power.

It’s sitting pretty tall right now with the coilovers at 7-7/8” of shaft showing which is 1-7/8” more than desired at ride height but I imagine after some settling and adding a winch/bumper it should be close to where I want it, so I’ll keep the preload as-is for now.

I love hate 1t axles. Love because they're dime and dozen. Hate because their pumpkin hang so low that they become anchors.
