speed sensors

for a year my eng light comes on and off about a week for each. it is a speed sensor code. speedp works fine. found sensor on right side of tranny and was replaced 6 months ago. time to smog and need to fix it. where else should i look?

 

Was the code P0500?

 

thank you for checking in. yes the code is po500 sensor a. I've heard that with a manual transmission and non abs brakes that's all they have is the one on the left side of transmission. Evidently I'm mistaken.

 

If your speedometer always works it's more likely the instrument cluster.

For my 2005 Tacoma Double Cab v6 the Toyota service indicated the culprit is mostly the Combination Meter and the cost is a pretty penny. The check engine light appeared for 1 day and then off for at least week, and then reappeared for 1 day again. Thoughts about the problem?
