How are you liking those RT’s now that’s it’s been 6 months. I had them on my Titan and absolutely loved the quietness but yet aggressive tread. Those ran over 50,000 no problem. Are you having any issues with balance ?

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
I've got the RT Trail on my 4Runner. Balance was good. Seems to flatspot or something when parked a couple days which makes steering shimmy at 60mph but it smooths out after 3 or 4 miles.
Not as bad now that i have a few thousand miles on them.

They seem to maybe be lacking in lateral stability to me. It's like a feeling of being in a crosswind sometimes. Not bad but noticable and wasn't there on old tires.

Traction is awesome dry, heavy rain, and dirt so far.

Just discovered these today and man they look awesome, I was thinking either falkens wildpeak at3w or these and I'm leaning towards these just wish they made them in 275/70/16 but I'll be happy with 17's

I just picked up a set of 285/75/16 from Tire_plug2.0 on IG. I paid $1,050. He's in So Cal and I think he has one set left.

I'm switching from Toyo MTs and I really like the look of this tire.

does anyone have any snow experience with these?

Im running a 285/70/17 duratrac right now, mainly for snow/ice performance. I need a good snow tire here in Oregon. I would like to upsize to a 285/75/17 and GY doesnt make the duratrac in that size. id have to go with a 295 which would look better forsure, but I really dont need any extra width or worse MPG, im mainly looking for more sidewall.

So my question is, is the R/T trail in a 285/75 going to work for my snow needs? or should i skip it and go with what I know, in a 295/70

for reference the GY in a 295/70/17 weighs 58lbs and cost $347 from discount tire the RT/Trails weigh 63lbs and cost $362

Duratrac's have solid reviews in snow from what I've read. Lots of siping probably helps. I'd probably stick with those. :notsure:

I recently bought the Toyo RT Trial for my Tacoma. They ride super smooth, very similar to my previous wildpeaks at3w. It's just slightly frimer on road but not so much compared to my wildpeaks. It could be that my previous wildpeaks were P rated and now my RT are C rated. I didn't want to go with E rated due to it being heavier and I still want to believe I can get better mpg haha. I did notice a drop in my mpg due to the fact that they are slightly heavier.

Just one day so far of driving and I was slipping in the rear on wet pavement while turning, but could be due to the fact that I have no weight in the rear or that brand new tires have some kind of film that needs to break in first.

My psi were set at 35 out the door from the tire shop and I lowered it down to 34 front and 33 rear to see if that can improve with grip, but it stopped raining. I'll do more testing it once it starts raining again. Still haven't test them out on any off-road trails yet, but so far they ride very good.

    Update after 600 miles:

The grip has improved and just like I thought the compound from the new tires wore off allowing the tires to act like how it should on pavement. Grips better on wet surface and not slipping like how it did before.

Now I have my tires set at 34 psi fronts and 32 psi rear. Seems to be the right amount all around. Have not yet taken it offroading but overall on pavement it's an awesome tire.

Added a couple hundred more dirt miles up in Northern AZ. This trip included a bunch of loose sand up near White Pocket AZ. The RT Trails did great no issues losing traction or spinning in the sand on the climbs out of camp. Continue to be impressed with this tire. Now approaching 1k dirt miles and 4000 road miles no visible signs of wear and no chunking of tread or sidewall blocks after aired down offroading including high speed stuff

Added bonus is they look great on the truck tooScreenshot_20231004_082727_Signal.jpg

@hmgtaco09 @OnePuttBlunder thank you for the report out, this information proves to be invaluable to potential Toyo R/T Trail purchasers. Thanks for the pics, they do look fantastic on the Taco.

The main reason that Toyo's are stiffer is because they are 3 ply tires vs the Falkens being 2 ply. It could also be that they are LT size which usualy uses thicker construction components but that just depends on the manufacturer. One misconception people have about load rating is that a E rated tire is automaticly stiffer than C ord D. Some tire companies use the same tire for C, D, and E load rating and just change the letter on the mold because if a tire meets E load rating it also meets C and D.

The Toyo RT Trails are probably not going to be as good in wet as your P-rated wildpeaks as P-rated tires usualy have silica in the tread compound and most companies dont put silica in LT tires. Silica greatly increases wet performance but also increase the cost quite a bit based on how much is used. The only company that I know that puts silica in most of their LT tires is Cooper Tire.

If your footprint is small (too much pressure) you will lose surface area and traction. I would recomend doing a chalk test to get footprint right but 35psi-40psi seems right. The downside to a larger footprint is worse fuel efficiency.

I have had these 35s for about 8 months now and I have to say one my my only complaints is it’s pretty slippery in the rain or snow, and that’s with weight in the back at 32 psi.
