I've got a high rise camper on a 2008 Tacoma. I love the camper (pet screens, interior insulation, and enough height), but it's not designed for a 6' bed. The company that made it is out of commission. Any thoughts on how to modify this to prevent the rain from coming in?

We use it for car camping, and I'm hoping it can last a few more years until I can upgrade.

I tried gluing a garage door trim to the bottom. It didn't work, and the residue is still there. It was a last minute attempt at a fix during some very rainy days.

maybe get some small bulb seal and glue/tape it around the edges to fill the gap?

Get a thick rubber hose , cut a slit the length of the window, slide over window edge, drill 4 holes evenly spaced through hose while in place, use zip ties through holes. Drank a beer while you trim zip ties and admire your work.

I have a similar topper issue. I built one of those simple camping platforms so I'm off the bed. I use an inside silver windshield sun blocker thing wedged inside the rear hatch window. Water still comes in but hits the windshield guard and drips down inside the tailgate. Water doesn't touch my blankets. Everything I have stashed below is in plastic tubs.

I'd take pictures but the camping platform is in the storage unit. sorry

Instead of glue try some aluminum pop rivets. Place a piece of aluminum flat bar on top of the garage door trim and rivet the two onto the bottom of your rear camper door. A little silicone caulking or sealeant would be a good idea too.

I've wondered about getting a piece of sheet metal or similar. And bending it to an "S" shape that would match the contour of the ledge. But I've got no idea where to get/bend such a piece.

Probably had a hard plastic wiper board on there at some point but cheap fix is home depot screen door seal find a black 1 or 2 and simply screw or seal on with end overlapping the gaps.
Heavy duty is garage door seal but that does not come with a metal plate like screen seals.

I would get a sheet of rubber, maybe .02" thick, and 3+" wide. Silicone it to the cap door and let it drape over the top of the tailgate. You may have to baby it in place when you shut the door behind you. Any type of positive seal between the door and tailgate would be better than nothing, but isn't going to keep water from getting in during a driving rain.
