Got the new fairing off. Have a higher top speed now but still the same problem. Also lots of wind noise. I'm ready to throw this thing in the garbage

I guess someone here will get a great deal soon in the 3rd gen marketplace . Btw I love mine. Wind noise is very negligible . My tires (duratrac ) is a LOT noisier . I’m happy with mine :D

is yours the sport? i noticed on the regular grand teton there's a cross bar behind the wind fairing, like how the prinsu is installed. i'm not a fan of this center arm support on the sport

I have both the Grand Teton on the cab, and the Crow's Nest on the Leer cap on my 2020 DCLB, and never have heard wind noise since I installed both, driving at all speeds. Very happy with my purchases. I still think they are the best made roof racks in the marketplace.

Sport and the grand are similar except the grand has thicker aluminum. Placement of the fairing plays a role in the wind noise i think.

I don't see why they couldn't have done a cross bar behind the fairing like on the full size. It looks like there's plenty of room for it

    Hey everyone,

    Alex here with Sherpa.

We are working diligently on addressing this issue with the Grand Teton Sport, we have received 2 cases of this vibration out of over 100 racks sent out. One of the customers was able to completely remediate the vibration issue through some adjustments and trial and error. We have also sent emails to all of our Grand Teton Sport Customers asking for user feedback so we can gauge this issue more as I am sure there are some having this issue but have not reached out and we are hoping they will. Many have reported no issues or wind noise so it has been hard to pinpoint.

That said, through experience, we know that no two tacomas are exactly the same, and one of the many reasons we have a lot of adjustability built into our products. We are hoping to collect more data and work to have a solution for any of the customers who are/may experience this issue and we just ask that you get in touch with our customer service team if it arises. Info@sherpaec.com

Thank you all for sharing your experiences with our product and keeping the thread full of information.

Recently had a smartcap installed and now I’m in the market for a rack to hold a roofnest condor XL. I noticed the cap is a bit higher than the cab. I wonder if anyone here knows if the crows nest would be the best setup to go with the Grand teton. Anyone knows if the Grand teton sport is much lower than the regular one?
    TIA

im honestly surprised. Installed my grand Teton trying to center it on the roof, and adjusted the front full fairing kind of low but I don’t think actually touching the roof.

I do plan to insulate the roof later. But have been surprised this seems like the quietest roof rack I’ve ever had.
I don’t really go 80 though either. Trucks not really cut out for it on stock gearing and 35’s.

Mine was the sport version so it's attaches differently. Doesn't have the cross bar behind it

The Grand Teton Sport will be flush with your shark fin antenna. Which looks to be close to or slightly above the height of the Smartcap.

    interesting discovery…

caliraised premium roof rack front fairing is hidden stealth light bar panel that drops down via knob when needed
Likely also functioning as a glare blocker

doesn’t look like it’s sold separate or easy to add to Grand Teton

    IMG_1435.jpg IMG_1434.jpg

I wonder how much that feature is actually worth it
If a light bar really makes that much noise or not. To need to get out and drop the panel down every time. Or I guess run it down as a glare blocker.

currently running Grand Teton full fairing without a light bar and never had one so never saw first hand if they actually add a lot of wind noise or not.

It's a great feature to have! The ALWD protects your LED light bar behind an adjustable fairing when not in use, keeping everything street-legal whenever off the trail. The low profile and perfect fit ensure low vibrations and wind noise. Also we have 10% off site wide till Jan 6th, so right now is a great time to buy it :)

Does anyone know if the sherpa load panels will work on the prinsu roof rack?

Did you end up adding crossbars? I'm in the same predicament, mounted maxtrax and I feel like I need an extra crossbar to even out the gaps as the bars attached to the mounting feet are non adjustable
