Hi all! New here. Just picked up this 1999 3.4 v6. 220k miles. Working on routine maintenance. Can anyone tell me what this plug is? I see some fraying on the back side, and I want to address it.

That is the Camshaft Position Sensor (CPS) connection to the wiring harness going to the Engine Control Module (ECM). If it does not make a good connection, you can start getting a check engine light with a P0340 error code. I am chasing down an intermittent P0340 error code problem in my '97 V6 Taco right now.

EDIT: CPS wiring looks good, so I cleaned then reseated the connection. Connection going to the ECM behind the glove box was not fully seated, which may have caused this intermittent problem. Will disconnect the battery, clean then reseat all the connections at the ECM.
