For those in New England & coastal areas.
Did a little research, Ended up power brushing Frame , Rust, wheel wells , ect. Cleaned up Rusty spots. Cleaned with alcohol, painted with etch primer , reg. Primer, some parts paint. Then sprayed surface shield. Off n on about 2 weeks but worth it, lost my last truck , rotten Frame.
    Live block from the ocean.

Salty ocean air will do that. We've lost other vehicles in the same scenario. Chevy/GMC. Not much you can do other move.

I feel for you guys in the rust belt and coastal areas. My 2014 still looks almost new.

It sucks. No doubt. But it's not as bad as it's made out to be if the vehicle is maintained.
Living a block from the beach is almost unavoidable. The salty air is a killer.
But w/ road salt in the winter, you can wash it off.
You should see the underside of my 08. The only rust I don't like is on the exhaust hanger by the cat on the manifold. The rest looks fantastic. Frame, components, etc.

So far, I have had good results with it, easy to apply & remove if needed. Not the best for high water and stone wear areas - stinks up the garage for a week, but gets in tight spots.

Not sure why this is still a problem. I have a '14, got a letter from Toyota, saying I had until a certain date to go get something done to the frame to keep the frame warranty. Did that, frame still doesn't look too bad. Living in NH.

I also know someone who swears by spraying a mixture of ATF and something else on his truck, says he's never had anything rust out.

I used this a few weeks back. Very similar to cosmoline rp342. Was sort of hard to track down somewhere to buy it easily aside from Amazon. I ended up placing a pickup order with local Oreilly’s auto and had it next morning.

Toyota actually sent me a notice telling me I had until a certain date to get the work done, otherwise, not covered.

I have an 09; bought new, lived in TN since day one. It's seen what amounts to, at most, one month of salt exposure in a northern state over its life. The frame is failing at the front leaf spring mounting points, and also on the inner RH side near the engine crossmember. Now tell me about how great Toyota is with their QC.
