Peeled off the black film from the doors, did I fuck it up?

    Did the clear coat get fucked up when I peeled it off? It feels different to the touch but not tacky like adhesive.

    What black film? Was this some sort of shipping protection film on a brand new truck? If so, the dealer should have removed it during delivery prep.

    All the things!
    3rd gens have a black vinyl wrap between the front and rear door windows. OP removed it to give it that 2nd gen look.

    OP, I doubt you messed the clear coat up. Just try to buff and polish.

    If it's remnant adhesive, try using Goo Gone... NOT Goof Off!

    Ultimately, if it is fucked up, just replace the matte vinyl.

    Found wd40, and some elbow grease works well for removing the glue residue from decals.

    Sorry, I don’t get this…sometimes the best thing to do is leave ‘stuff” alone…if you choose otherwise and “f” it up, then own it and figure out how to “un-f it” on your own.

    Try some GooGone.If its just adhesive googone will take off the old adhesive.

    Agree with (most ;)) others, no harm done and some good suggestions. My go-to is 3M Adhesive Cleaner. Used by professional body shops. Works fast and zero harm to clear coat.
    $29 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner, 08987, Removes Adhesive Residue, Gentle On Paint/Vinyl/Fabric, 15 fl oz

    Kind of spendy initially but I've put one can to use on all sorts of projects on our dailies as well as show cars for years now including decals, body trim pieces, road tar, bugs, you name it.

    Whatever you do, never ever use acetone. It'll ruin clear coat.

    Clean it up, a couple of coats of wax and you'll be good to go.

    Post pics when you've gotten it shined up!
