1982?
The last year before the 1984 huge redesign. They skipped the 1983 year and didn’t produce one. There is only one Vette they designated as a 1983 but it is actually a 1984. There were 42 test cars that were all crushed but this one Vette slipped through the cracks and was found behind a dealership. It’s the only one designated as a 1983.

I’ll never forget having my first 1984 Vette. sighting. I was on a construction site working on a mall when the mall owner pulled in with the first one to hit the local dealership. A red one and he was all grins as we all walked around it. When he lifted the tilt front end we were in awe. It was like an Indy car under there with the wide tires exposed. A masterpiece of its time.

Here’s the 1984 redesign.

 

About 5-6 miles from my house in a small village I ride through regularly there is a house with 4 or 5 Corvettes of this vintage, 3 that same light brown color and the other 2 the dark brown. I always found it kind of odd that someone would own that many of the same car at the same time.

 

1980 w/ 32k miles. Single female owner.
Found her in a garage nine years ago covered in dust when I was updating a kitchen up in Derry NH.
Hadn’t been driven in more than three years according to the inspection sticker and sticker on the plates. Gave them a deal on the remodel, they gave me a deal on the vette. Sometimes you’re just lucky I guess.
