Another (variation of the) spare tire question

The basic question about having a matching spare has been asked a lot on here, but I'm wondering what your thoughts are on a slight variation. I put new tires on when I got the truck about 15-16k miles ago and did not purchase a matching spare for financial reasons. After putting that many miles on the current set, would it make sense to get a 5th tire to work into the rotation? Or would it be bad to mix in a brand new tire after the current set has already seen some miles?

    Thanks in advance!

I'd leave the original spare and carry on

I run Blizzaks in the winter and my spare is my "summer" Cooper ST MAXX. I've run the Cooper twice when I got a flat Blizzak until I could get it repaired or replaced. Wouldn't suggest it for the long term, but as a temporary spare, not matching is fine.

Another way to think about it is that the little donut spares that come with a lot of cars never match the regular 4 tires.
