3rd gen tailgate power lock question

Hey guys ,
I have a tonneau cover and therefore can’t see the tailgate and can’t see if it’s open.
And it’s driving me nuts….
I did somehow either left it open or didn’t latch it right a few weeks ago and lost some not so valuable items.
Not sure how that happened ‍♀️
So now I stop to check if it’s closed all the time .

If I get the power lock installed , will it show that tailgate is open ? Just like it’s showing door is ajar ?

Please be kind , new to owning a truck never had to deal with an issue like that.

 

Nope. No indication of position.
But, it is a great add on if you have a tonneau.

 

Unfortunately it there is no indication if it is open. But it does open/lock with all doors from the key fob. So as long as you use the key fob to lock your doors, the tailgate will also lock with the single press of a button.

The OEM power tailgate is my favorite addition I've made to my truck. Cant recommend it enough.

 

Easy to add a connector and wire to system. Just need to run wire to tailgate and add a switch (like vehicle doors).

 

Just put it in reverse and look at the backup camera. If it's looking at the ground it's open. No need to get out and look.

 

How about "closed" but not locked?
