I would have to respectfully disagree.

Without the tune, my truck used to sit at 6-7,000 rpm’s going up high elevation mountain roads in places like Montana with a bed loaded down with gear.

With the tune, it sits around 3,000 rpm’s climbing the same mountain roads with the same load in the bed. Based on that alone, I firmly believe it has helped ease the wear and tear on my truck’s motor and transmission.

After having multiple tunes on multiple 3rd gens I’m with you. I swear some of these guys saying tunes don’t do anything have never had a tune or need to get their money back. I guess they could also live on the coast and only travel flat land as well. As far as being a “necessity” as the other guy says….well that’s an entirely different discussion. As you know, driving a 3rd gen up mountain passes is borderline torture without a tune in my opinion.

Yeah, I mean I guess you don’t “need” it but it sure felt like my motor was going to explode out of the truck after several straight minutes of RPMs that high climbing up a mountain pass before I got the truck tuned. Nice and smooth after the tune on the same roads.

I had the OTT Tune installed May 23rd, 2022.

My Sport bring-home date is May 14th, 2021.

I wasn't aware of any Tunes until after joining TW on Sept 28, 2021.

If you're reading this far...I can mention that I had less than 12K miles on my truck so the transmission was use to my driving habits. (As I've read on TW)

Delaware is a flat state so testing "hill driving" was really not practical.

I've noticed better acceleration with ECT engaged and the quick-shifting gear selection is reduced by using S-Mode (4/5).

This may not answer your question but I was fortunate enough to put miles on my truck before taking the plunge.
