Hi all. Installing fogs for my dad's 2022 Taco SR. Got the leds in place, got the wiring kit ran properly, through the firewall and to the switch inside. Switch lights up, push it in and the relay clicks. Everything is plugged together along the wiring harness but the fogs just don't turn on. I've triple checked the ground, the power (fuse tapped into the power outlet #1 fuse in the panel under the driver's dash). There is a drl option on the fogs that i didn't hook up but that shouldn't play any factor when it's a completely separate connection on its own. Fuses all seem good too. Took so long to finesse the fogs in since they were Chinese and didn't mock up perfectly. Now I'm stuck with good looking bulbs that don't light up... so I ask for help please. For my Dad.

If you have a meter you could check and see if the relay is supplying 12vdc output. Also if you have access to a connector you could power up each fog to confirm that they are both working. Where is the relay located, usually there is a separate 12v feed that comes from the battery to the relay, once triggered the relay sends power to the fogs. You can also just bypass the relay and use a jumper to simulate the rely being triggered.

Yeah, like @Froth said, check your relay if you can for power. If it’s hooked up like a standard relay, see if you have power on pin 30 (might be 87 if it isn’t hooked up like usual). You can jump pin 30 and 87 to override the relay.

Unfortunately I do not have a meter reader or jumper. The power in this scenario is solely supplied through the fuse I tapped into. I could try to power on the lights running the power straight to the battery however I've already ran this wire cluster through the firewall and it will not be coming back out haha. The relay I have came with the harness kit it is mounted under the hood along the fender. I'm not an expert at electrical or anything but I have done a solid share of modifications before including installing a very similar light bar setup in my truck. I'm stumped

I also appreciate your reply, don't really understand anything about jumping relays or these pins you talk about. Also don't have the proper electrical tools.. :/

Throw up some pics of the relay by the fender, if it clicks then you should be able to test from this point to the lights. If you have a paper clip, you have a jumper. It seems that you have not connected a power wire, any pic of the diagram that they sent you.

So you put in cheap Chinese LED foglights and are expecting just what? Really what you ought to do is rip them out and throw them in the trash where they belong so you don't endanger yourself, your old man or anyone else on the road the same time as that truck. If you *think* you really need fog lights, and believe me, the odds are that you don't, then first buy a set of OEM LED's, install them and properly align them and let us know how those work. If that's not enough, and you're actually driving in real fog, then maybe consider Diode Dynamics. The electrical stuff is easy if you just google how to do it. There are a million (probably literally) youtube videos and other tutorials telling you how to wire up a set of fog lights. Hell, Hella and Cibié used to come with detailed diagrams when we first started upgrading our automotive lighting in the mid 70's, back when it really needed to be upgraded.

For one thing, it looks like your fuse tap is in backwards. Yes, it can make a difference. For another, I'm pretty sure that fuse only has power when the key is on. And I've got to ask, are you using that fuse both for triggering the relay and powering the lights? Because that's certainly not the best way to do that and I'm not even sure that will work. You really should have power from the battery actually feeding the lights.

I'm going to suggest you find out which pin is which on the relay; they should be labeled somewhere, then use this diagram for wiring the lights.

From the relay you have a large gauge wire, like everyone has been saying should go to the battery as it has a main fuse., The relay will pull or can pull power from your interior fuse block as the only current that will be drawn is the relay itself. Question, where does the power wire which has the fuse on it in the engine bay go to now. Since the relay clicks its this power wire that is missing.
