Definitely quite a few. Although nowhere near as common as when I went to Colorado.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
VA is a completely different story than what MI is. I drive past four just getting out of the sub, and there are a few more in here. Definitely more Taco's on the street than the other "mid-size" trucks.

MI is mostly about the big 3 so it's not really a surprise to not see as many tacos as others.

Yep. My dad worked for one. I think he sat up in his grave when I bought my Taco.

I’m a delivery driver, lots of window time. When I talk to big three owners on my route, they all love Tacoma’s. They’re just not built to haul the weight that they need. They are envious of how they can get up and down the trails, lots of Tacomas in Lansing, but mostly stock

I believe that. The Taco was never designed with hauling/towing as a main focus. But there are also lots of people who are just afraid to admit they don't need a full size truck for their lives too.

Neither was the Tundra. But I truly believe the tundra was intentionally designed to be overloaded.

Why else would Toyota equip the truck with adjustable headlights from the cab?

Air bags on my Tundra make it a decent hauler that will carry much more than than the decal claims it can carry.

As an owner of both a tundra and a Tacoma, I wish the Tacoma had adjustable headlights.

I loved the new Tundra that I drove as a rental last fall. The adjustable headlights would be nice. But it's not just overloading that that is designed for. Even my RTT will raise my light beams a bit and that weighs less than most adults.

But, about the only way I'd be getting a new Tundra any time soon is if they made my payments similar to my current payments. Given that I purchased my Taco during the pandemic for less than what the new Tundras are going for; I'd say that my chances are slim to none. But also I don't really need a full size truck. It's more of a want.

Want vs need is where I'm at. 18 Sport MT with 119K miles. I like my truck (one of the few Inferno's I see around here) but wouldn't mind a few more creature comforts. I'm 6'6" and wouldn't mind a little more room, including headroom. I'd like lockers and with the weight I've added, I'm think about a re-gear and maybe a locker. The work would be a good down payment on a new truck. But then the building starts again. And the prices for the newer stuff is getting ridiculous. Especially if you think about the stuff being marketed to our crowd. As retirement approaches, smart money says stick with the truck and avoid the newer larger payments. But more headroom would be nice...

Fortunately for me, I'm 5'9" so I don't have many of the complaints others have with the seating position and head room. I had a lot of ideas for modding my truck when I first got it (still do) but have decided that it will remain stock at least until it isn't my daily anymore.

I'm also one of those people who has the TRDOR package simply to have the tools when I need them, even if I rarely use them. In reality, I can likely get by with an SR5, but I just like having the option to do more. Plus, one of my biggest things in getting this was dual climate and heated seats for the Mrs. Unfortunately, a full size truck with all of these things gets up there in price pretty quickly. But, also, it is a want. And I have to remind myself too that this truck fits in places a lot easier, including off road.

I bought mine with the intent of wheeling and DD duties. First dirt trip was at about 2k miles. I've only found one new truck semi equipped from the factory that you can keep under $50k, closer to $40k. It's the Silverado Trail Boss that you can get with skids and a few other essentials. But it would still need sliders, winch, etc. Same truck with the ATX4 is built. Toss in a winch. The one on display at Overland East was $80k. Fully optioned out at $100k with a premium burning gas engine. Can't see myself doing that. The Colorado was also there, same set up, but no prices yet. Feeling $60-70k for that.

I got nervous and thought I was going to see my truck. Lift in the spring...since I've had the parts for almost a year or more...then hopefully Drummond and many other places.

Never been to Drummond, I have heard it can get pretty serious. Always have had 4WD, mostly for snow and feeling comfortable on the two tracks in the UP. Camping-Fishing Truck.

I have trust issues with GM at the moment after my last truck and growing up with a lot of GMs. I'd lean more toward Ford if I stepped away from Toyota for something full sized. I don't trust RAM at all. At the very least, Fords are now aluminum so the bodies will last much better against rust belt winters.

A guy on my route said his father used to be the guy who purchased steel for GM during the 70’s and 80’s. He once had to turn down 70 tons because the carbon content was too high. Too much carbon meant not enough rust. Gm didn’t like that. I asked who did his father say had the best steel, he said you see what I drive. He had 4 Toyotas. He had purchased the first T 100 in the state of Michigan back in the 90s. It had over 475,000 miles all original.

Yeah, I agree with that. I'm sure strength plays a factor too and perhaps rust is simply a byproduct, but still. For as much as Toyota is known for rust issues, the bodies seem to remain relatively clean compared to the domestics, even here in the rust belt. Hell, I've seen newer Chevy trucks with more frame rust than my 2017 Tacoma.

It always seems like RAMs rust the fastest and GMs rust the worst, which is kind of counter intuitive. Ford's have their issues too, but the aluminum is a great selling point for us rust-belt dwellers.
