Yeah I get the feeling the autobody shop doesn’t care when the bumper gets in so I’m feeling way more relaxed about the situation. They said I can just pay the difference from the bumpers if I want the peace of mind of everything being looked if when they do the repair.

so now I think I’ll go ahead and wait until Black Friday and get whatever I want and just cover the difference and overall feels like a win/win to go about it this way. And if I decide to do it all myself with my stepdad, that’s alright too sort of deal.

Yeah @AllTacosFloat theyre off my list for sure :/

If you need a hand on putting it on let me know. Do you like tube or plate?

Front is gonna be the southern style plate bumper so probably should have plate rear

between shelling out for a swing rear or like an RCI bumper

Gear Aid Tenacious Tape would probably work well and they have different color options.

I don’t know tbh, I might just get something that has a hidden hitch and spots for the parking sonar and call that a day.

I don’t think trails that require that high of clearance is something I’m going to be wanting to be doing to be honest

Fair enough. Not sure about 3rd gen but C4 makes a non high clearance plate bumper for 2nd gen that doesnt look bulky like most do.

Edit they do make one for turds but doesnt work with BSM BS

Yeah I’m pretty sure I’m gonna end up losing BSM which.. doesn’t do anything anyways in my truck. The only bumper that seems to retain it is the 4wp that keeps the oem hitch. That or the victory 4x4 (whack name) strike bumper

seems like I have time to mull it over so I’m just trying to digest the information atm

Plate looks better, tube works better. In my mind. You can also slap plexiglass plates into a tube bumper for looks if you're bored and or stupid.

My spotter skills are a solid C+, so i can play a hand at getting that bad boy gone this weekend. :)

The funniest part is both times i toasted mine were dumb and minor. One was a low rock wall in the woods turning around. The other was a dirt hillside, also turning around. The gnarliest looking stuff is fine but the easy stuff is what gets you. Complacency. :)

We'll get that bumper off. Either on the trails or after a round of beers at camp :spy:

Thought I mentioned it, but didn't. It's the OEM cover so whatever plastic that's made of.

A couple of other good ideas as well. I'll have to look at Gear Aid and Flex Seal.

It gets funnier. The complete door for $120 is back in stock now. I got an email alert and ordered it - mine really isn't fantastic which is part of the reason I wanted a new one anyway. The metal finish is really scratched up and the glass retaining brackets are corroding.

I'm over $200 into what should have just been a couple gaskets, but now I have a complete spare door

Flex Seal tape. It sealed a hole in my garage roof until I could get it done properly. I have a good sized roll at my house if you want to grab some of it.

SSO went under and has a new owner. I’ve posted about it in the SSO vendor thread. The new owners contact info is there. You should reach out to him if you’re expecting something from SSO.

    I have this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09Q38Y15F?ie=UTF8

Not on sale but it works pretty great if anyone is looking for a last-minute radio before the big AOAA trip

That's a good one too. If I can give some radio nerd input:

    https://www.amazon.com/BAOFENG-Batt...mzn1.fos.006c50ae-5d4c-4777-9bc0-4513d670b6bc

If you're going to get a GMRS dedicated radio (which, you do legally need a license to operate, BUT there's no test, just a 35$ fee), get the Baofeng UV5G. It's a clone of the UV5R with a different software that locks out being used for anything else.

Point is - the UV5R has so much in the accessories department. Hand mics, belt clips, antennas, batteries, cradles, etc - it's nice to have that backup. Ross - that one you sent is nice, and the waterproof factor is mint. I love the USB charging which DOESN'T come out of the box with the UV5G/R, I only wish that the charging port was on the side/bottom instead of the back.

    upload_2023-10-10_13-48-28.png

The UV5R isn't that much better. You either use the cradle from the factory, or get one of the better batteries that CAN be usb charged. But it uses this thing, instead of a generic USB mini/micro/C port.

    https://www.amazon.com/Extended-Bat...&sprefix=uv5r+battery+,electronics,91&sr=1-18

You can also get one of these, hooks it straight to the 12V in the truck in the "cigarette" power outlet.

    https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Elim...feng+battery+eliminator,electronics,86&sr=1-3

    ...I'm fun at parties :)
