89-04 OEM Toyota Rollup Tonneau Cover Removal Tool?

Well, this is a long shot, but what better place to go but here to ask all of you.

I have an original Toyota factory approved accessory fold-up tonneau cover on my 2003 extended cab. The cover is like new but it is hard to remove the snaps when opening it up. On the label describing how to accomplish the task of un-snapping the cover it states two methods. One is by pressing upwards on the bottom stitching where the snaps are and then pull upward. This method while doable is pretty tough on the fingers. The other method stated on the tag in steps 4 & 5 refer to a " key" that slides underneath the snaps and pops them off as it is slid along the rail. Sounds like the best solution to me but I cannot find this tool anywhere on the net. I even have a Toyota parts department doing some research.

Any ideas here?
