Blocked gas cap air vent? The vent is designed to let air INTO the tank but not OUT.

Maybe it sticks until there's enough of a vacuum to overcome the initial stiction?

But in that case, you'd have a prob first thing in the morning.

Do you fill right up to the filler neck?

The fact that the symptom occurs at fill up still makes me suspect gas cap.

sounds like a fuel filter. Id also run some injector cleaner through the gas as well.

i had this problem, It would also do it if the truck sat in the sun for a while. It is the vapors from the gas going from the tank into the engine. My FREE fix:

Get under the truck, there is a vent line comming from the top of the gas tank..pull it off. The gas no longer vents into the charcoal canister but directly into the air. Not epa friendly, but easily reversable and a quick fix.
