Hi all, does anyone have any mods that make the Tacoma more comfortable for their passengers?

This year has been a blast in terms of camping and off-roading with the family (wife and 2 kids, 8 and 10 year old). I’d really like to do some longer trips with the whole family next year but I get a lot of complaints about how uncomfortable the truck is (it’s a 08 DCLB)…

So far I’ve done sound deadening on the rear wall and seats and installed a quieter muffler… both of which have been great.

I’m also thinking of puffing up the seats with a steamer and installing some nice leather seat covers.

Does anyone else have any other that made their trucks more comfortable for their passengers?

Watch your tire pressure. The tires should be around 32 psi. Any more can create a pretty stiff ride.

Did 10,000 mile Alaska to Florida Trip. Best advise for comfort is get all the crap to the bed of the truck. When blankets, pillows, snacks, drinks and everything else comes into the cab it gets cramped really quick. If someone got thirst or hungry we stopped stretched the legs and planned our next stop. Road Trippers was great for that. I also have a Joying Head Unit that we would all watch YouTube News or Hot Ones during traffic jams. Made them not seem so bad.

Standard load or load range C tires help. E’s make it really stiff.

If your shocks need a rebuild send them to acutune off-road for a comfort revalve.

    Take off your roof rack

Get rid of those chunky offroad tires that are probably howling at highway speeds. Michelin Defender tires made my Taco sound like a Camry on the highway.

You are hauling a lot of weight and as others said E range tires will beat you all up.
Not sure you can go back to SL rated due to all that stuff so doubt you can do much, even $2000 king shocks may not do much for you.
Lower tire pressure and speed on rough roads maybe all you have. I see a Tundra in your future.
