So I was backing out of a spot at local seafood place!
Just got a qt of clam chowder to go it was for the wife she’s a ER nurse second shift.
Guy cranks in right behind me for the spot on my drivers side. He has an old but taking care of crown Vic.
We don’t hit hard it’s my fault I know I was backing up. Told him I’d give him 200$ and I’m sorry he thinks he wants insurance to repair. I told him his fender was rusted out anyway and insurance may give him 600$ and total it?
He was gonna think on it but I took pics for proof. IMG_0199.jpg IMG_0198.jpg IMG_0197.jpg IMG_0195.jpg IMG_0194.jpg IMG_0200.jpg
The dent I made is by his signal light and last pic is my truck!
We shall see where it goes.
I feel bad older guy like me and he takes care of his chit.
I already contacted my agent cause I think he’s gonna want new car and they said get pics now! Maybe I just won’t hear from him dammit at least I didn’t dump the chowder is it Friday yet!!

That car doesn't look like he takes care of it at all lol.

I wouldn't worry about it. Let the insurance company handle it. Most parking lot accidents are deemed no fault anyway especially without a police report.

Chances are his insurance will end up paying anyway.

If you really don't want your insurance to pay for it. Mentioned how he sped into the spot next to you and you never had a chance to see him.

His car was actually pretty clean and dent free.
Rust here is common it’s an old car with rust even though he kept it up. I feel bad!

I finally realized cars don’t last here and it’s an effort vs time and money.

Simple formula here; Your fault, you (or your insurance) pays. On the other hand for stuff like this and it's the other guys fault, I usually shake hands and tell them to have a nice day. Hopefully he will do the same.

PS: your insurance company will pay whatever to make him whole. I don't think they factor in the rust.

Here is a helpful thread if you plan to repair your rear bumper yourself. Post #22 has a good writeup and post #5 has an exploded view of parts.

$2K car if it's in fair condition, I like CV but I don't know about paying 2k for one. I'd be surprised if a wrecking yard would give $600 for it.

So wait a minute, this fender bender was in a restaurant parking lot? Where I live, cops won't even respond to a parking lot mishap as the rules of the road do not apply there and thus no police report is generated.

Insurance won’t pay him squat . Will more than likely blame the rust for damage .if it was my car I would have taken the cash .

He just called me and said we are cool.
Appreciate being honest and doesn’t want anything. I’m gonna drop 200$ off for him at the restaurant.
Really good phone conversation with the guy!

When I lived there I wanted to find the dude that thought the sand/gravel mix they put down instead of salt was a good idea and pummel him. When I was living in Johnson I was good for at least 1 new windshield per winter from Route 15.

Haha sand gravel and windshields or salt and frames.
    Gotta love Vermont.
