    Hi all!

I joined this site a while back but never posted anything, so here it goes. I have a 2014 Taco with the 2.7. I'm looking to put a freer flowing muffler on my truck. I already have the mid pipe and tail pipe, so just need to pick up a muffler to complete a cat back system (sort of). My question for the group is what is a good muffler that is less restrictive than stock but not too loud?

I know I'm not really going to get any performance gains, but just looking for something to get the air flowing easier thru my engine. I already have an aftermarket intake and a KD Max tune, so figure a different muffler would be a good compliment to them. But I leave for work pretty early in the morning, so trying to keep the noise down.

I've listened to a few YouTube videos of Borla and Flowmaster and they sounded like they make the truck a little too loud for my taste. But I remember when I was younger that Thrush mufflers were a little less restrictive and did not increase sound too much. Any thoughts?

    Thanks guys!

it's a different engine but I just put an Aero resonator and Thrush Hush muffler on my 2.4l 22R reg cab. It has a mellow tone that is louder than stock but isn't overbearing by any stretch

Thanks! I'm leaning towards a Thrush. I'm going to take off the stock exhaust and bolt up the mid pipe and tail pipe I have then see how much room I have between them and go from there. Was going to do it this yesterday but it rained all day so hoping I can get it done next saturday.

Ended up going with a FLWTC Raptor Turbo Muffler from Advance Auto. They had a coupon code for 15% off, so the muffler came to only $39 out the door with tax. I was in a pinch as I had the old exhaust already off and needed to get this wrapped up, so hit the Advance website to see what they had in stock and would work. I picked this muffler simply because it was the right length and the inlet and outlet were the right diameter. I also got the mid-pipe and tail-pipe from advance plus a few clamps and hangers. All in I spent $183.45 for a sort-of custom aftermarket exhaust. I'll post pics and a vid shortly. It's slightly louder than I would have liked, but not so bad that it will piss off my neighbors. It has a nice rumble at low RPM but is still fairly quiet at higher RPM. I'll have to see if it helps or hurts any with performance or fuel mileage this week. I'll be using the truck for both commuting to work and hauling my dirt bike so will get a good feel for if it helps any. I doubt it will but will report back and post up those pics and video in case anyone cares. The install took me a few hours yesterday afternoon. It was not bad.
