Long story short. I put my truck in 4H to climb ramps for oil change. I backed out of garage and turned to leave the house. Forgot 4H and now can’t go forward or back. Put in 2H but green 4wd light is flashing. Turn truck on and off but nothing changes. Thoughts? On pavement.

Drive it a few feet after shifting back to 4X2. Sometimes it takes a few seconds. Normally I avoid 4X4 on pavement, but for a short distance especially in a straight you'll be fine.

Sounds like you got it solved, just remember to check all settings before just doing next time. These are fickle beasts.;);)
Go, though all the gears, ,2wd,/4wd settings, ebrake and then try to move her (the truck)
    ;)

    It doesn’t reset.
What it does is, When you turn the key back on, it see the 4WD switch in 2H, and the truck in 4H.
So it commands the 4WD ECM to “try” to go to 2H again.

My point is, it’s possible that the problem may arise once again the next time you try 4WD.
It’s up to you when you try it?
Probably on a Friday night, that way you have all weekend to get it back in 2WD if it “sticks” again.

BTW, we have a whole thread on diagnosing the 4WD System.
    (In case you need it)

The driveline may have just been in a bind and it took a bit of driving to get it to free up but if you continue to have issues by all means check out our 4wd help thread that @TnShooter posted the link to above.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to check your actuator vent hoses while your servicing the truck, alot of 4wd issues are caused by them getting dry rotted and coming off allowing dirt and water into the actuators.

Yeah, I’d personally try out the 4WD system a couple times.
    “Just to be sure”.

Nothing like needing 4WD, but not having it.
Or worse, needing out of 4WD and not being able to get out.
