    A nice alternative to Fumoto.
I can say, I’ve had a Fumoto valve on the FJ since 2008 and ZERO leaks

There are folks that have had the winglets break off and I’ve seen pictures but struggle to understand how that happened. The new motivx design does not engage the winglets. I have both versions of the wrench. The one that doesn’t engage the winglets is much more difficult to use.

So, the plastic winglets broke off, or the aluminum?

Here is the fit-check with the plastic housing...both sides:

    tempImageE7L5yU_78f08286e181a1e02ae1f6306992a3b87aaecad3.jpg

I'm having a struggle removing the filter wrench just now because it is a snug fit! lol

The plastic looks durable as I've taken some leverage action to remove it on previous oil changes.

This includes the 2 oil changes the dealership did during the initial 2yr ToyotaCare Service.

    I bought the wrong size...initially.

They were still in the oil change box I left them in.

When ordering...don't do what I did...buy the wrong ones. lol

That is some serious and worrying damage!

Only thing I can think of (since the housing wrench is fitted/seated to support/grip) is...the wrench was put in at an angle...or there was slippage on the lower portion of the housing filter...which then caused the housing wrench to catch the winglets and break them off.

It's tricky since I have the TRD skid and can only put one hand inside the rectangular opening.

That clip becomes increasingly important to determine when twisting force on the filter housing is exhausted (not needing any more twisting).

I may put a dab of grease on that O ring next time. I think the o ring is the major friction contributor during removal. Thermal cycling likely causes it to break down some and dry out, creating the friction between the filter base and filter housing during the first 20 turns after cool down..

Matte black decals on the MGM is where it's at. Depending on the angle and lighting, sometimes you can see em, sometimes you can't. :)

Replaced my high pressure fuel pump today. I couldn't stand the chirping noise anymore.
