Hello guys, so bought my 3rd gen used and front door and tweeters have no sound what so ever looks like previous owner had subs behind both rear seats but removed them prior to trading it in at the dealer there are lots of loose conductors and loose crimps. Could this possibly lead to the front speakers not working? Thank y’all in advance.

if there's evidence of someone mucking about in it, absolutely anything is possible. you might even find a black hole stowed away somewhere.

Start with taking the head unit out and see if anything has been spliced back there, then you might be able take the kick panels off and see if anything has been spliced there.

Yeah pull the head unit and start there. There’s a good chance of cut or spliced wires back there. People who do messy removal typically did messy installation as well.

they may have even removed the tweeters and door speakers so there’s a few things that need to be verified

yep, in troubleshooting, i tend to focus at the beginning, then check the other end, then start narrowing down whatever is in the middle partly by what's easiest to access.

the front output of the radio will go to top-of-dash speakers first, from there it goes down to the front door speakers. there's a 4-wire plug on those speakers that if disconnected, will render the door speakers not working.

in the attached image, the center 2 wires, '2', and '3' are the input to the dash speaker. '1' and '4' are the output to the door speaker. using your volt meter, and playing something off the head unit, i would check 2&3 there for a/c voltage, and also check 1&4 for resistance--usually around 1.5-2 ohms, or anywhere from 1.5-6 ohms if there's aftermarket speakers. this will confirm both that the door speakers are connected, and wired back into the dash, and that the radio is connected and wired to that point.

from that point, use that test as a measure to where to proceed. either the door panel needs to come off, or the radio needs to come out.

it's like those old "choose your own adventure!" books!!
