Front Bumper Paint

I’m taking the truck to get professionally detailed and coated to protect the exterior and the man noted the different texture of the front bumper. I noticed this as well but assumed it was on purpose. Have you guys seen or heard anything about the front bumpers being painted with a textured paint? It’s a black glossy truck and the front bumper is slightly more matte in coverage. Thanks for the shared info.

 

It's normal from what I've seen on newer Tacoma's. If I had to guess Toyota isn't sanding the bumpers smooth prior to spraying them. I doubt it's different paint. It shouldn't be an issue with ceramic coatings, sealants, ect though.

The paint on the bumpers, has a flex agent added. It does often change the texture of the paint. It’s an additive that is not present on the sheet metal

 

this, and I would think a good detailer would know this already.

 

I couldn't tell you the specifics, but my 2017 front bumper has never been repainted and is a different texture than the rest of the truck.
