3rd Gen Limited

I’ve had it for 4 months and I’ve seen that the Limited should have Remote Start. I can’t really find any troubleshooting on it. Or I have been misinformed that it has it.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

 

Check your owners manual and make sure you’re pushing the buttons right. I feel like some said it’s touchy

 

We need more information about your truck to help you out, such as the year.

If it does have remote start, depending on the year, you need to push the lock button three times (not fast, make sure the truck indicates you hit the lock button) or you need to push it twice and hold on the third time.

Some people have complained that newer models stop having their remote start work after the subscription service ends, although I have no personal experience with this and have heard mixed versions.

 

My apologies. It’s a 2017. Unfortunately can’t locate the owners manual. It would be in the dash if I wasn’t looking for it I’m sure. Lol

click the lock button 4 times slowly,, if it doesn't start, it doesn't have it.
Look at N2 Designs to add one, they have a nice reliable, plug-n-play system, that is easy to install.

 

Got ya. Try it and let us know if you figure it out! We always like hearing follow ups. Mine isn't the lowest trim of the TRDOR, but it didn't come with the remote start. I installed the one from N2 Designs and it has been great. Plug and play, hidden behind the kick panels, and works with the factory remote.

Not sure on the Limited automatically coming with it though.

My ‘19 Limited does not have remote start.

 

I don't really understand it not being standard. Oh well. Seems the N2 is a nice sleek fix for it though from what I can tell.

 

It’s just an archaic vehicle…..I think 2020 they started adding it.

 

My '21 has it. Though I feel like my remote goes through batteries like no ones business and I often dont have a charge well enough to do that many button pushes in a row and all of them actually get recognized.

 

The key is to do it slowly enough that you see your truck beep each time.

 

2017 Limited doesn't have remote start. I added the N2 Designs to mine. Just be aware that the stupid Toyota programming will cause the engine to shut off when you open any vehicle door after doing a remote start.

 

It's like patting your head while rubbing your tummy. Google 3rd gen Tacoma remote start and you will find the sequence. I do it so it can't be hard.
I press the lock lock lock, hold that 3rd lock, wait for the lights to flash, let go and it starts. Magic.

 

2017 never had remote start as an option.
