A little confused on offset, can someone explain like I'm 5?

I have a completely stock '23 TRD Offroad 4x4. From what I gather, the stock wheels have positive 25mm offset. I want to get a wheel that is 0 offset, and is 16x7.5, so this will poke the tires out ever so slightly from my understanding. This shouldn't cause any rub issue though right? I've done the Googling, but think I have confused myself more! I plan on staying with stock suspension, just want a very slightly wider stance.

Zero offset is pretty flush with the outside of the fenders. Negative offset pushes wheels out; positive offset sucks them in. Most stay with zero to -12 offset. Anything more than zero you'll have some trimming to do.

 

This is the info I was looking for, thanks! I plan on keeping my truck fairly stock, so didn't want to cause undue issues.

 

I still get ET aka offset backwards mixed up with back spacing!

What tires are you going with?

 

Keeping the stock Goodyear Terrains for a while. I almost popped on new wheels and tires at the same time, but figured I'd get some more use out of the rubber for a while. Plus, harder to justify to the wife getting both right away
When it's time for tires, I plan on going with Toyo Open Country A/T 3's. I have them on my Subaru Forester and have been really happy with them.

I am super happy with these! Fifteen52 Analogs, and Americas Tire got them all mounted and balanced in under 40 minutes, awesome!

 

All this is true....but it can also depend on the width and style of the wheel.

And once you get into multi piece wheels and different face/disks.... then all the above is thrown out the window for recalculating.
