    Hello!

    I have a 2009 TRD/4WD V6 Tacoma which I love. I am the original owner.

The vehicle has 130K miles on it, and the past couple months shifting in to first and second gears got increasingly difficult. I knew/suspected something was wrong with the clutch so I took it to the dealer...

Initially the dealer told me the flywheel, clutch disk assembly, clutch bearing assembly, and clutch cover assembly needed to be replaced (that they were worn out).

So I said go ahead and do it.

The next day he calls me and tells me my master clutch cylinder was damaged and also needs to be replaced (at this point I am $2500 in)

He also tells me that this particular part is on back order with Toyota and it could be months before he gets it, if at all. The vehicle has been at the dealer for well over a week...

He also offers to me that he can use a third party clutch master cylinder, but he always recommends Toyota parts, but this was an option and he could get the part in a couple days.

    My question is:

Has anyone used a third party part for the clutch master cylinder and will it work as good as the Toyota part?...

    Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

    Aisin made the OE part.
Tell the parts guy to type in “31470-35181” in Google.
Surely, he can find a way to make it happen.

Thank you; can you tell me if the third party part (not authentic Toyota) will work just fine?..

Predator tube steps, Ranch Hand grill guard, Magnaflow CatBack exhaust, Toyota tool box & bed mat, 2LO Module by @Up2NoGood, Rearview Compass/Temp Mirror, Tune by @JustDSM.
Functionality wise it will likely work fine but it may not last as long as the OE part.

I hate to say it but it sounds like they threw a clutch at it before looking under the dash and seeing the master cylinder leaking. Probably didn't need the clutch

They're not laughing, they're probably scared because they know they fucked up and they're hoping you won't say anything. Call em out..

If I remember correctly from when I did mine, the replacement part has a metal body, the existing piece was plastic.

I do remember it was a pain to replace. Imagining they started with this part and built the truck around it.
