I just bought a 2002 extra cab Tacoma prerunner for my son. It has 220kon the clock. I am currently in work on changing timing belt, water pump, all the stuff on front of engine as well as valve cover gaskets.

so my question is how long are the stock injectors good for?

If you're doing all that work, and you already have the intake manifolds off for the VCG, then just do the injectors. Get the Denso Upgrade ones from Motorwest. Or if time is not a factor, you can pull the injectors you have and send them to MotorWest for service.

Thank you for the help. Did not know the longevity of them. Any special tools needed for this?

I don't know their lifespan, but I can tell that I noticed a difference when I changed mine out at 140k.

Special tools.. There are some line wrenches that you'll need to get the fuel rails off. You need to replace the crush washers in there. I used the supplied SuperLube with the motorwest injectors rather than the gas that the FSM mentions on the o-rings. Timmy as a great video that covers this all in detail.

Does the crush washers come with the injectors or do I need to order them separately?

NVM. I found them on the website

In that video I think Timmy shows using gasoline on the o-rings as a sort of lube. MotorWest will supply some grease that you should use instead. Great video still.

I also used these OEM injectors from the 3.0L 2JZ-GE (23250-46090 / DENSO 3320) with great results if you want a slight upgrade.
