:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! :rain:???? For you maybe, we're heading for 100* again! It's mowing day, but should only be in the 80's by then, and it's getting to where it will be bi-weekly now.

Exactly, I feel like a walking barometer. Every time a front comes through my back goes nuts, and I spend a couple of days just laying in the bed.

It's hard to imagine the clash between the European culture and the Native American culture at the time. People that didn't believe, perhaps didn't even have the concept, of people being able to own land or possibly personal belongings... as opposed to people that grew up with the ideas on wealth/success being an accumulation of ownership.

That part about Sitting Bull spending his wages from the Wild West Show by giving his money to beggars on the street, and feeding his people when he got home, really struck me with how differently people can think.

Got my morning TW fix, now to mow the backyard in preparation for Sunday Brunch with a couple of neighbors. Tomorrow I'll spray the yard for those damn Chinese Tiger Mosquitos! Making a run to Walmart for "ZingZang" Bloody Mary mix with Vodka. Tracking down marinated Okra to add along with celery. Camping buddy gave me his recipe. + a splash of this and that.

We have a swimming pool for the ducks.
Young raccoons think it's a splash pad once they are done being scared. Coons are the secondary target.
Stray cats are the main target. If they aren't leaving mouse remains, they get soaked. They are pretty stealthy, until they arent!

Well, now that painting is a thing again, guess I'll dig out this custom grill someone had made. Guy didn't like his paint peeling, so I stashed for a later project. Here comes later!

Yep, I lived in San Diego for 25 years 10 of which were in Rancho Bernardo. Lots of sightings at Miramar. Osprey sighting were very common.

Speaking of which. My sister took up hunting elk with a bow last year. Her husband got her into it. Even though my dad was a huge hunter snd I and my brother did some she has never hunted until last year at age 58. Her first year and she drew on a 5X6 Bull. Definitely a hit, they tracked the blood for two days but never found it.

This year they were back up there [they have a cabin in Wyoming] on another elk hunt. They were walking along a ridge and my sister was behind him when suddenly she caught a glare off the skull bone from the sun in the canyon below. They went down to investigate and found the remains of what they thought was the bull she shot last year. Sure enough they found her arrow.

It was scavenged pretty good and sat for a year. Many other hunters in the area and it’s quite amazing it was her that found it. He was just 100 yards from where they stopped their search last year. They hauled the antlers and skull home and just got it back from the taxidermist yesterday. They didn’t get an elk this year but this made up for it. Bummed they missed out on the meat but happy that he obviously died right away and then scavenged upon. Fed quite a few critters through a harsh winter.

    My sister and her husband.

Osprey sightings are very common up here in New Hamster as well, but they are the feathered kind. :p

Very common in San Diego. I’m back in Colorado now and have an Osprey platform 1/8 of a mile from my front door. :)
