Bed lights dash harness

I have 22 SR access cab with utility. Pretty basic truck.So I put the bed lights in box. Plugged them in. Added Toyota switch on blank in dash put don’t see plug. Isn’t there something under dash that plugs in there.

Should be an extra wire behind your taillights.Run wire from bed light thru small hole then plug light into the extra wire.The wire is for the bed lights....
When you open the door the lights will come on automatically..NO NEED FOR SWITCH

I just did this. The wiring for the switch(I think your original question) is in a bracket near the switch location. You need to look. The rear wiring is low, behind the tail light. You need to remove it to see it. You defiantly need to install a switch on the access cab. I kept reading here that it wasn’t needed, it is.

 

Also require a relay, since the access cab has no 3rd lamp bed illumination bulb.

 

I bought a relay but there are two there now. Is there room for another

And you checked and didn't find this (behind tail lights), correct?

 

I connected them. My problem is under dash. Getting plug for light switch. I’ll check under dash soon.

i think my harness was plugged into the back of the dummy plug...

 

On my 23 access cab I did not need a relay. The switch connector is there, near the switch location connected to a bracket. It is almost hidden, you need to look for it, not going to find it by accident. Pull the switch mounting plate out to find it.

 

Brilliant! you mean I don’t have to buy that $100+ switch from Toyota for my 23’ Access Cab bed lights to work?! I’m going to plug them in tomorrow (they’re still in the box) to see if this works!

 

Damn it! I do need the stupid overpriced switch?!

 

Yay! I already don’t want to have to buy the overpriced switch, let alone another part- hope this works on my new 23’ AC!

 

In the access cab you will need the switch, I did not need a relay. I am not positive where it is located, when I put in the switch it worked. I bought a used factory switch off eBay. I could not tell it was used. It was about $50.
