    Hello,

My son drives a 2008 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner.

He noticed the front passenger side shock had what appears to be grease leaking out and a possible gasket crack. I suspect this is a serious issue requiring immediate attention but hope that I could get advise on the urgency of the repair from some experts on this forum.

    Thank you,

Zooming in, that Upper Ball Joint (UBJ) boot is dried and cracking.

Time for new UBJs, @jwtuck65 . Possibly more maintenance as the age of the truck will have a lot of these rubber boots and bushings possible old, hard, brittle, cracking.

As for urgency, I’d do it soon, but I stay on top of maintenance. The UBJ shouldn’t fail spectacularly, but will continue to develop more play when there isn’t grease in there, and make noises in the front end, eventually (if not already) cause alignment issues which will wear tires unevenly.
