KENWOOD DMX1057XR In 1996 Tacoma

Here are a few pictures of my recent install with the KENWOOD DMX1057XR floating screen.

I had to update the firmware via USB.

 

Why is it sitting so low? There should be sliders on the back that allow you to adjust the height.

 

Just had same unit installed in my 2023.

 

I had it elevated all the way up but it got in the way of the AC Controls so I lowered it down a notch. I'm considering raising it back up as it was more ergonomic using the volume knob.

 

My biggest complaint about this head unit is how picky it was about USB drives for system updates. I went through about 5 before I found one that worked. I ended up settling on the PNY drives which finally worked.

I cannot wait to get my system moved over from my Accord.

Man, looking at the interior of that car takes me back a bit. My dad had a 96 Tacoma, so that interior is pretty familiar to me.
