If it was me I would be trying to get my money back. Some of us have seen this before with fabricators.

Crazy how many fab companies don't make it in this market. I'm curious where the breakdown happens. Are the profits that slim? Poor business management? Too much competition?

if this is the case (not doubting you @Ryeguy) I would call the CC and get a credit back. If the new owners don't care to take on the existing debts and obligations, I think this shows who they really are. Don't get me wrong,, I get why, but after all,,, doing the right thing is often hard.

Yes, this is exactly what the new SSO owners stated in their own message on this forum in another thread.

The new owners bought the brand name and the business assets only. The debt and obligations of the previous business owners is left to the bankruptcy court.

It is a legal (if crappy and unethical) business move.

Read your credit card terms. There's a time limit to initiate a charge back. 90 days on mine. I have empathy for struggling companies, but hell no I'm not going to take a "gift card" as a promise to deliver something in the future. With a bankruptcy and a a new company buying the name, good luck. File the charge back before it times out.

Limited market for $$$$ bumpers and sliders. Most Tacoma owners go for crap you can buy on Amazon for 1/4 price so their mall crawler can look "cool"

Seems to me the new company has no access to old revenue or debt. Which also leads me to believe a dispute on the old charge with your credit card may not be seen by the new company. Just saying.

The credit card company is the one that eats it in this case, but that's the business they are in. They assume the risk, but still make sure to make out like bandits in the long run at everyone's expense.

I pay my balance every month for the little I use my credit cards, and even then just to use to maintain the credit score. I am not the customer the CC companies depend on ... carrying $10k+ debt for years and paying 15%+ interest. But I am the minority, possibly even the minority of the minority. CC company will live through writing off your chargeback.

Lmao nice. Some low poster business account came in one one of the other threads saying what nice guys the SSO dudes were. You can be nice to people and also a scummy asshole. The owner and and one of the employee’s interactions on one of the Lexus groups were less than stellar.

That’s not even the issue. These dudes have the demand, they just backlog themselves like 6-12 weeks out on product getting shipped cause they like someone else said, don’t scale. They double dip on all these preorder sales and mismanage the funds. When the money goes poof they then have to essentially fund the old orders that should’ve already had funds allocated. Rinse and repeat til they declare bankruptcy, all the while saving face and running a “sale” right before the end.

There’s a California based small shop that recently did a 50% of all online items over the course of a weekend recently. I’m waiting to see if that goes south too lol

I had a order in with SOS offroad when that happened, was on a debit card but they refunded it pretty quickly.

Mind you, I am not a lawyer, nor am I pretending to be one. That being said, I DO have several friends that are, and here is their take:
ANY promise of a gift card, or future completion of your bumper, are at the SOLE DISCRETION of the new owner. But, think about it-what if they decide the business is NOT solvent? Is a mere email of a promise enough to get your money back, in six months? That's a gamble YOU can take, but, were it me, absolutely not.
The several people I spoke to, suggest going to your CCC and requesting a refund through them. Now, IF you received an email, or any other form of communication, from SSO, regarding a completion and/or ship date, then you have a pretty strong case, as the company failed to deliver. Unless, of course, on their website, they have a disclamer about not being responsible for order completion in the event of a buyout, etc.
Again, I am not a lawyer, I merely bounced this question off a couple friends. They highly advised against the "wait and see" strategy though, and all suggested taking it up with your CC company.
Either way, this sucks. I was going to order one of their bumpers this coming spring...thats off the list now.

Maybe I am understanding wrong, but if you really liked the new leadership and hopeful of the direction that they were headed... Wouldn't you cancel now via a chargeback and reorder when they open orders up again? That would support them directly financially while recouping funds from the previous business. That is all assuming that the new owner truly has no financial line between what is now vs then.
