I'd pass on it for not having the recovery points but that's just me. There are other bumpers that look very similar that do have proper recovery points. But if you only drive to the mall maybe it isn't a big deal for ya.

Given the price of the Icon, I would also pass this one up. Literally every other company has recovery points on the bumper (they may not be rated but they do at least exist).

Another option to consider for a low profile bumper option from Greenlane.
Aluminum, great build quality and 10/10 powder coat.
I have a few good winch recoveries on it with no issues. Recovery points are passed through then welded in. Lots of effort went into the design of the bumper.

Unfortunately that's the price you pay for aluminum and not farmed out over seas. Local quality>farmed for profit

C4 makes a low profile bumper for about $150 more than the Icon. Except it has recovery points and you can get options like a bull bar too. https://c4fabrication.com/products/tacoma-front-lo-pro-winch-bumper-3rd-gen-2016

All-Pro has one for the same price as the icon. And it has recovery points. Victory makes one about the same for about the same price. https://www.victory4x4.com/product/VT3FB.html

Rinse and repeat, lots of options. Go to Google and type "2016 tacoma low profile front bumper" and start clicking for options. Search the Tacoma World vendors section, likely others I'm missing from small vendors (and they often have really good stuff). Good luck OP.

Hey there, I have been looking around for some feedback from folks with the Greenland bumper that have used it for winching. It sounds like you have had no issues with it. Have you used it on any heavy pulls?

Did you install it using any kind of extra frame support brackets like the ones made by C4?

Like all things aluminum, I very interested in having the weight savings, but cautious about the strength.

this is my bumper of choice. going aluminum is 100% worth it on a tacoma imo. wana keep things as light as possible.

So I have 3 notable pulls on it few other minor ones. I have no additional bracing on it just set up as greenlane specifies.

First week it was on there was a duramax that tried to follow where I launched the boat in a very low river so your well off the boat ramp in order the get it deep enough. As soon as he left the pad went straight to the frame in gravel/sand. Hard pull but nothing shifted no issues.
    IMG-20220511-WA0027.jpg
Second one was buddies 1500 ram buried in the snow going downhill. I couldn't get good enough traction to yank with the kinetic so long tug on the winch won.
    20230326_154919.jpg
Third was I got ambitious launching the boat in less than ideal conditions the rear instantly dropped the axle in peanut butter mud and continued to sink. That one was a double line pull to break suction with a trailer behind me. And to this day it looks straight and solid. Unfortunately no pictures of that one.

Down the road I would like to do a frame reinforcement as I'm sure I'll snap a stud before I have an issue with the bumper.
